     December at the Huron County Community Library will have plenty of activities to keep everyone busy during the holiday season.  Don’t just sit there at home, check us out on social media and share some fun times with our staff.

     Join us, Teens for Twitch Game Streaming by following the links on Facebook.  Play with us on Friday, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 from 3-5 p.m.

     Teen Time on Mondays at 4 p.m. has plenty of holiday crafts.  On Dec. 7 make a DIY Faux Fur Tree and on Dec. 28 create a 3 item wreath.  Best of all also at 4 p.m. take part in the “12 Days of Slime”.  On Dec. 13: “Grinch Slime”; Dec. 14: “Elf on the Shelf Slime”; Dec.16: “Tinsel Christmas Slime”; Dec. 17: “Scented Gingerbread Slime”; Dec. 18: “Christmas Tree Slime”; Dec. 20: “Candy-Cane Fluffy Slime”; Dec. 21: “Rudolf Christmas Slime”; Dec. 22: “Jingle Bell Slime”; Dec. 24: “Santa Hat Slime”.  Kits are available for Dec. 15: “Candy Cane Butter Slime”; Dec.19 “Elf Snot Slime” and Dec. 23: “Snow Slime”.

     Every day from Dec. 7 to Dec. 11, all the library locations of the Huron County Community Library will be featuring a free “Grab and Go” Holiday Kit.  Stop in each day to pick up a new kit.  Join us virtually on Dec. 7 for a short tutorial on each of the 5 kits.  Then enjoy creating your special ornaments of the day.  Make your “Danish Stars” on Dec. 7, a snow globe on Dec. 8, a wine cork ornament on Dec. 9, a wooden Snowman for Dec. 10, and a DIY Patchwork ornament on Dec. 11.

     Holiday Decal Sign with Danielle Grace Designs will be on YouTube and Facebook Live Monday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.  Have a homemade holiday with a stencil decal sign.  This throwback design is sure to make you smile.  Kits are available while supplies last.

     On Thursday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. take part online with Judy and Mitzi for a “Baking Fun Demo”.  Learn how to make Ginger Cranberry Pinwheels just in time for the holidays.    

  Create a different kind of Gingerbread House online Thursday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.  Join us for a workshop and make a “Graham Cracker “ gingerbread house for the holiday season.

     Stop by our Wakeman location and pick up a kit to make a 3D Tree ornament on Facebook Live. Create this ornament at home on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. with our library staff.  

     Miss Mitzi presents a live Storytime every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live.  Featured kits are available at all library locations.  The Themes for Storytime are: Dec. 2: “Everyone Loves Cookies”; Dec. 9: “R is for Reindeer”; Dec. 16: “Elf, Where are you?”; Dec. 23: “Snow Much Fun with Miss Mitzi”, and Dec. 30, “Happy New Year 2021”.

      Friday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. Miss Cathy at Wakeman will have a storytime called “First Day of Winter”.  And don’t forget Miss Carolyn on Facebook Live from North Fairfield Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. with Baby Storytime and a new sign language lesson.

     Each Wednesday, pick up a weekly “Grab and Go Kit” at our Willard location.  The dates to pick up are Dec. 7, 14, 21, and 28.

     Kids, join Miss Char on Facebook Live Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. and make DIY Gingerbread Playdough.  Kits are available while the supply lasts.

     Exciting Christmas Fun every evening kids!!  Mrs. Claus (aka. Miss Char) will be on Facebook live at 8 p.m. every evening with a special “Countdown to Christmas” 25 days of Stories.  Starting Dec. 1, each night she will unwrap a book and share a story to help you settle down for the night.  Watch every night so you won’t miss some fun surprises-some special treats to special guests.  You won’t want to miss a thing.  While supplies last, pick up a weekly bag to follow along.

     Take time from your busy schedule to relax and read.  North Fairfield’s Inspirational Book of the Month is “Christmas Heirloom” by various authors.  Greenwich’s book selection is “Skipping Christmas” by John Grisham.  Wakeman along with New London Public Library and Western Reserve schools are still offering their Storybook Walk at the Western Reserve Elementary.  Our Willard location has three book discussions available in December through “GoToMeeting”.  Monday Reads will meet Monday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. and discuss “Seven Days of Us” by Francesca Hornak.  Awkward Book Club with Jo will meet Monday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. and talk about “The Giver of Stars” by Jojo Moyes.  Teen Manga Club with Jo and Mrs. Rogers will discuss Vol. 13-15 of “One Piece” by Eiichiro Oda on Friday, Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.
