    Feeling the winter blahs?  Let the Huron County Community Library lift your spirits.  Check out each of our library locations and find lots of fun activities to help pass the time during the cold month of February.

     All ages can enjoy a “Blind Date with a Book” at our Wakeman location.  With hidden covers, choose a book after reading a brief description.  Take this opportunity to find a “New” read and be entered in a drawing for a prize.

     Beginner Line Dancing continues at the Wakeman Masonic Hall across the street from the library on Feb. 3 and 17 at 4 p.m.  Bringing a water bottle is recommended.

     An Anime Watch Party is held in Wakeman every other Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This month’s party dates are Feb. 5 and 19.

     Stream for Free at the Library is scheduled at the Wakeman Branch on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Activities planned are: Feb. 2, “Yarn Heart”; Feb. 9, “Puzzle Heart”; Feb 16, “Salt Lava Lamp”; Feb. 23, “Play Cards Day and National Tortilla Chip Day”.

     Preschool Storytime is held at the Wakeman Library on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m.  Dates for February are Feb. 2,4, & Feb. 19,11, & Feb. 16, 18 & Feb. 23,25.

     Join Carolyn at our North Fairfield location for Storytimes that include a fun sign language lesson.  Story time will be held Feb. 22 at 11 a.m.

     Stop by our Greenwich and North Fairfield locations each week for a weekly “Take it and Make it” craft kit for families.  The week of Feb. 1, “Polar Bear Fork Painting”, Feb. 7, “Snowflake Bird Picture”, Feb. 14 “Valentine Pete the Cat”, Feb. 21 “ Duck for President”, Feb. 28, “Yarn Snowman Magnet”.

     You can catch Storytime at our Greenwich location with Miss Jenny on Wednesday evenings at 5 p.m. or Friday mornings at 11 a.m.  The theme for Feb. 2 &4 is “Groundhog Day Fun”, on Feb. 9 & 11 is “A Valentine’s Day Party”, on Feb. 16 & 18 “A President’s Day Craft”, on Feb. 23 & 25 “Cookies”.

     Parents drop in each week at our Greenwich location and pick up a “Take Home Kit” that will focus on a skill that will help your child learn and play.  On the week of Feb. 14 get the “Start-up Kit”, on Feb. 21 the theme is “Adding and Counting, and Feb. 28, “Colors”.  Different activities will continue into March

   Teens drop by and pick up a fun “Take and Make” activity or craft at our Greenwich Library.  On Feb. 3 “Crochet a Headband”, on Feb. 10 make “DIY Stickers”, on Feb. 17 “Glitter Pens”, and on Feb. 24 a “Folding Family Cube”. 

     Join Miss Jenny as she visits with the Huron County Humane Society on February 24 at 6 p.m.  We will be meeting cute dogs and cats while learning how the HCHS works.

     Hey Teens!  “Grab and Go “Kits will be available on Feb. 7 at our Willard location.  Join us on Facebook to make a cute Valentine’s Day wreath.  This Dollar Tree craft would make a great gift or addition to your room.

     Kits are available starting Feb. 10 at all of our Huron County Community Library locations to celebrate February with a cute no sew Gnome craft.  This is a “Take and Make” craft. 

     Check out all the activities for kids at our Willard location.  Pick up your “Grab and Go” kits will supplies last and join us on Facebook.  On Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. kick off February with the “Yuckiest, Stinkiest. . .Best Valentine ever!”  Hear a story and create a cute wreath craft.  On Tues. Feb. 8 at 7 p.m., let’s create with Froggy and Miss Char!  Miss Char will share a book and a fun art project using converging lines.  Miss Char has some magic to share with you on Feb 12 at 7 p.m.  Stop in and pick up a magic kit to do at home.

     Grades 1-5 are invited to take part in a “Tiny Art Show and Contest”.  Registration begins on Jan. 31 at the Huron County Community Library.  Register to receive a mini art kit and create your masterpiece.  Bring your art to the library by Feb. 7 to be part of the show.  Vote for your favorite art work on the Library’s Facebook page or in person at the Library.  Full details are included in the kit.

     Join Miss Mitzi every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Willard Library for in person Storytime  in the Community Room.  The theme for Feb. 2 is “Hip, Hip Hooray!  It’s Groundhog Day!”, on Feb. 9 it is “Hugs and Kisses, Valentine Wishes”, on Feb. 23 “The Breakfast of Champions”, and Feb. 16 “Let’s go Sugaring”.  Watch Miss Mitzi on our Facebook page for a special “Out and About” on Feb. 16.  She will be visiting a Maple Sugar Farm.

     “Monday Reads” meets the second Monday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Willard Community Room.  On Feb. 14 the book for discussion is “The People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry.

      “Awkward Book Club” will meet on Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. and share their thoughts on “The Four Winds” by Kristen Hannah.

     “Manga Club” meets twice a month at 2:45 p.m. at the school.  Teens will talk about the book “Attack on Titan” with Mrs. Rogers on Feb. 1 and 15.

     “Who Picked This Book?” is the book club at the Wakeman Library.  On Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m., come and talk with us about “The Princess Spy” by Larry Loftis.

     Join us at our Willard location Annex on Wed. Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. for “Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club”.  Asian Cooking will be the theme.  We will be discussing (and tasting) recipes from “Lemongrass and Lime”, “Rice, Noodle, Yum”, and “Peached Tortilla”.

     Wakeman Cookbook Club will be sharing “The Cupboard to the Table” cookbook by Jody Hannemann.  The club meets on Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.

     Looking for something “New” to read?  Stop by Greenwich for a “No Strings Attached” book selection and also our North Fairfield location for an “Inspirational Book Club” book suggestion.
