The stage is set for the grand opening of New York City's newest subway line. The mayor has worked tirelessly to make this happen, possibly even sacrificing his marriage, to get to this day. The President of the United States and other dignitaries are in attendance. Throngs of people wait in the lavish Visitors' Pavilion for the first train to arrive from the Jersey City station with its passengers, all handpicked for this maiden run. And...it's late. Only four minutes, but now it's disappeared from the tracking display. As the frantic scrambling begins to find out what went wrong, the train finally creaks into sight. The windows are smashed, there's blood everywhere and there isn't a passenger in sight. Everyone's first thought is terrorists, but the reality is far more horrifying. A very enjoyable book. Some of the writing could be a little sharper, but the action is almost non-stop. You can easily see this becoming a movie or TV show and there are already sequels in the works. A frighteningly fun read.
