Bad things are happening in the small town of Bayou Breaux, Louisiana. A little boy has been savagely murdered in his bedroom. His mother sits in the hospital with minor injuries but no answers. Now the boy's young babysitter has vanished without a trace. Is there a maniac targeting the children of this community? Are the two cases connected or is it a horrible coincidence? Detectives Nick and Annie are determined to find out, even as Nick butts heads with the new sheriff and the media. Tami Hoag has done it again. She consistently writes well-plotted, suspenseful thrillers that you don't want to put down. Her characters feel real and you want to read another book about them as soon as you finish one. This was the best book I had read in a long time.
