In the not too distant future, somewhere in the UK, a research team made up of scientists and their military escorts roam the countryside hoping to find something, anything, that will lead to a cure for the pathogen that has decimated mankind as we know it. Among the crew is a special boy. Stephen's social ineptitudes and quirks severely hamper his ability to communicate with the other crew members, but he may be their best hope of finding a cure. With constant danger lurking outside, tempers flare and tension builds as more than one crew member harbors a secret. Will any of them make it home? Is there still a place to call home? I only recently read Carey's "The Girl with all the Gifts" from 2014 and was very excited when I saw that this one was coming out. They are both excellent books. Read them in any order, but read them.
