In this diabolical new thriller, McKinty shows us that the potential for evil is inside all of us. Rachel is headed to a doctor's appointment when she receives a phone call that her thirteen-year-old daughter, Kylie, has been kidnapped. They want money, of course, but even worse, they tell her that she must kidnap another child or Kylie will be killed. And so goes The Chain. Rachel enlists her ex-Marine, ex-brother-in-law to help her with the details as she shamefully plots to abduct another woman's child to save her own. But even if Rachel succeeds in getting Kylie back, will it ever really be over? The Chain can come back on them at any time. What will living with that constant fear do to them? This is a good book. Well-plotted, relatable characters, plenty of action, a unique yet plausible premise. This will have people searching out McKinty's previous works to see what they've been missing.
