It was the perfect family vacation, until the unthinkable happened.  Liv and Nora are cousins who decide to take their families on a Christmas cruise to Central America.  Everyone is having a great time aboard the ship, but now it's time for a shore excursion.  The men go golfing while the women and children prepare for a zip-line tour of the rain forest canopy.  A minor accident derails their van on the way to the tour site, so they head to a nearby beach as an alternative while they wait for another van to become available to pick them up.  The peacefulness of the sunny afternoon is shattered when it's discovered that the children are missing.  As the parents blame themselves and each other while waiting for news from the authorities, the children endure a harrowing experience that becomes life-threatening.  Most of this book just zips along even though, in the back of your mind, you're thinking some of it is a little far-fetched.  The ending seems to falter a bit as though the author struggled to reach a satisfying conclusion for all the characters. Overall a fast, entertaining read.
