Cassie Bowden is a lonely, self-destructive alcoholic, accomplished liar and petty thief.  In short, this flight attendant is a train wreck.  And now, things have gotten even worse, because the passenger she flirted with on the flight to Dubai is in bed next to her with his throat slit.  Experiencing one of her usual blackouts, Cassie can't even be sure she didn't kill him herself.  Cassie lies as long as she can, but when the FBI starts closing in, she finally hires a lawyer.  What Cassie doesn't know is the woman who killed her one-night companion has put herself in a precarious situation by leaving her alive.  That situation might have to change.  This was the first time I read Bohjalian.  I really liked his writing, it just flowed so elegantly.  However, I was rather taken aback when this compelling story suddenly turned ino a James Bond novel with some very far-fetched outcomes.  But after reading some reviews, I guess that blending of genres is kind of his trademark and he does it very well.
