Three very different girls are thrown together as roommates their freshman year at a tony college in the east.  Unlikely bonds are formed and the girls vow to be friends forever.  Twenty years later, the three women they have become would better be called frenemies than friends, but old loyalties die hard.  Secrets from the past and the present threaten to destroy the lives they have built for themselves.  When one of them turns up dead, there's lots of speculation about the cause.  An accident?  Suicide?  Murder?  Who had somethng to gain?  Who had something to hide?  Who didn't?  Even though the "college friends with a secret" plot seems to have become rather trite, this one is surprisingly well done, especially for a debut.
