Clayton Burroughs is in the unlikely position of being a new father, a recently wounded sheriff and the new boss of his family's longtime criminal enterprise in Bull Mountain, Georgia.  Clayton isn't sure yet if he has what it takes to be a good father, but he's pretty sure he's a good sheriff and he's damn sure he wants to put an end to his family's legacy of criminal activity and violence.  The other cogs in the wheel don't want to see a good thing come to an end, however, and are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep business flowing, even as another local family steps up to take over the lucrative drug trade on Bull Mountain.  Wow!  Brian Panowich is a name you'll want to remember, because you'll be hearing it again.  His first novel, "Bull Mountain", won lots of awards and "Like Lions" is a worthy successor.  These books are gritty, raw, real and intense.  Read "Bull Mountain" first and have "Like Lions" on hand because you won't want to have to wait for it once you start reading.
