Nick was in a bad place when he met Julianne. His apathy and his bad habits were running him and his career down. But thanks to her love and faith in him, he was starting to turn it around. And then, the unthinkable happened. Julianne is killed during a robbery that Nick walked in on. Now, with no wife and his young daughter miles away with her grandmother, the only thing Nick has is his anger and a burning desire for revenge. He takes a job driving a cab, figuring his best chance of finding the killers is by combing the mean streets of L.A. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The reader sees things happening from several different angles; Nick's, the bad guys' and from the police investigator who handled Julianne's murder. And you just can't wait for their paths to cross. You can feel the dark, grittiness of the city and the 70's vibe emanating from the pages. Colby took years to write this noir novel and he did it right.
