Darby Thorne is taking on a Colorado blizzard to try to get to her dying mother in Utah before it's too late. But when road conditions force her to stop at a mountain rest area, she'll soon discover the weather isn't her most dangerous adversary tonight. While trudging through the snowy parking lot trying to get a cell phone signal, Darby makes a horrifying discovery...there's a young girl locked in a cage in the back of a van. Now Darby has to figure out who the kidnapper is from among the four strangers sharing the rest area with her and how to free the little girl and keep her safe until the authorities can reach them. Wow. Adams has certainly found his niche. This book was a rollercoaster ride of constantly accelerating suspense. At one point, I could hardly read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. Though some of Darby's exploits are a little over the top, this not-for-the-faint-of-heart thriller makes for a very enjoyable read.
