We've all heard about self-driving cars and wondered "How is that really gonna work?" Apparently, John Marrs spent a lot of time thinking about it and came up with a worst-case scenario in his latest thriller. In the not-too-distant future, Great Britain has become the first country to embrace completely autonomous vehicles with plans to ban all manually driven cars. But then, on an otherwise ordinary day, eight people suddenly find themselves trapped in their self-driving cars with no control over their destination or anything else. The vehicles have been hacked and a mysterious voice is telling them they probably will not live to see the end of the day. This is one of the most original thrillers I have read in a long time. It grabs you right away. The intensity does wane further in, but you have to keep reading because you want answers to certain questions and the ending does prove to be very gratifying.
