Another book about a dead girl and her dysfunctional family.  Here we get the dead girl's perspective of the time leading up to the murder and her half-sister's viewpoint of the rather shoddy investigation after the fact.  Besides the two girls, the cast of unlikable characters includes the girls' mostly absent father, the dead girl's psycho mother, a not-overly competent detective and a couple of pedophiles, to name just a few. The half-sister takes time out of her self-absorbed, deadend life to try to find out what happened to the half sibling she barely knew. The action does ramp up near the end when the two narratives are on a collision course to reveal the murderer. It's a dark story with some dark humor and not a lot of appeal.
