Probably the first thing that drew me to this book was the word "recipe" in the title.  Given my cookbook fetish that word is always an attention getter for me.  But when I looked a little deeper, I was intrigued by the idea of two women, some 60 years apart, dealing with the same struggles to be the woman their husbands and society expects them to be while trying to be true to themselves.  And all this taking place in the same house, the same garden and with the same cookbook and recipes.  Nellie, a housewife of the mid-Fifties, is an expert gardener, an accomplished cook and has recently found out her husband is not the man she believed him to be.  Fast forward to Alice, who always felt her career in PR defined her, suddenly finding herself in a new place with no job and high expectations of her husband to be the kind of wife she's not sure she's ready to be.  You'll breeze through this enlightening novel.  Every woman will find something to identify with in these pages.  A pleasurable read.
