Being a kid is tough.  Sometimes you just don't fit in no matter how hard you try.  Cora finally found a friend when Violet moved to town and now they're doing a class project with Jordyn, one of the most popular girls in sixth grade.  The project is about urban legends and their small town of Pitch has their own in Joseph Wither, a man supposedly responsible for the deaths of multiple girls over the years.  When Cora begins an online conversation with someone claiming to be Wither, she doesn't immediately realize that she's in over her head.  And when the girls go to the train yard at night to meet Wither, none of them can anticipate what they set in motion.  This evocative story is told from multiple points of view and in several different forms, including police interview transcripts, text messages and journal entries.  All this is skillfully woven together with characters you can empathize with as some try to find out the truth about what happened that night while others hope no one ever does.
