NYPD detective Lourdes Robles is investigating the murder of a young girl whose body was found washed up on the beach. Since it seems likely that the body went into the water on the Long Island side, she contacts Nassau County where she discovers a string of murders that may be connected, but no one else is willing to admit that they may be looking for a serial killer. But as Lourdes digs deeper, she makes enemies of some people in high place when her investigation points her towards the local chief of police. Another winner for Blauner. The story and the characters are complex but believable, the dialogue rings true and the extent of the corruption is shocking. This sharp, gritty crime novel will leave you wanting more.
