Natalie, rookie detective, has only been working on missing person cold cases when she's suddenly thrust into the forefront of the investigation into the murder of a much-loved local teacher who was found dead in her kitchen. The two prime suspects are her husband and a troubled student she was trying to help. An altercation between the two has left the husband hiding out and the student in a coma. Burning Lake isn't a big town, but it has more than its' fair share of secrets and a dark history. Natalie must try to solve a crime that involves friends and family while dealing with her own demons from the past. A very enjoyable read. Natalie is a compelling heroine and I look forward to seeing more of her, as this is supposed to be the start of a new series for Blanchard.
