WE WERE KILLERS ONCE

I had my doubts when I heard that Mastreman's latest installment was going to be centered around the infamous murder showcased in Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood".  My fears were unfounded.  Masterman knocked it out of the park.  What if there had been someone else with the killers that day in Kansas?  Someone who was never connected to the crime but has recently become aware that there may be evidence that ties him to the decades-old murders.  Unfortunately for that someone, the person who has this information is married to retired FBI agent, Brigid Quinn.  Quinn may be sixty-something but she is still sharp and capable.  She immediately picks up some bad vibes from the elderly gentleman trying to befriend her husband, Carlo.  While Brigid tries to figure out the man's game, she also finds herself fighting a ghost from the past, Carlo's dead first wife, who apparently was practically a saint.  The Brigid Quinn series has become a favorite.  Quinn may be tough-as-nails, but she has lots of self-doubt.  The witty banter, wry humor and nail-biting action scenes make this series a winner.
