There is so much happening throughout the month of April at the Willard Memorial Library location of the Huron County Community Library. All ages are sure to find something that will interest them.

Hey kids! Start your month with an Easter Coloring Contest on April 1. Entry groups are ages 3-7 and 8-12. Pick up your entry and return it by April 12. The winners will be announced April 13.

Our preschool kids, “Story Time” is held on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The theme for April 5&6 will be “Dinosaur’s Roar”; April 12&13 “It’s Egg Time”; April 19&20 “A Parade of Pets” and April 26&27 “Bath Time is for Bubbles”.

Beginning April 3 and continuing all month is “Fill-in-the-Blank Poetry”. Stop by and fill in a poem with us. Then stop by on April 12 and “Transform a Pencil”.

Don’t miss out on April 13 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Come take part in “Peep Science and Easter Crafts”. Sign-up is required.

Movie Night is Tuesday, April 18 at 5:30 p.m. Watch as a hustling theater impresario, in a city of humanoid animals, tries to save his theater with a singing competition that becomes grander than he anticipates. When the event ends, even the contest finalists' find that their lives will never be the same.

Join us on April 27 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. as we welcome “Directions Credit Union”. Learn about money as Directions leads us in a game, helps us create a bank and shows us how make a spinning penny toy! Sign-up is required.

Mondays at 4:30 are “Teen Time”!!! Events planned for Teens include “Trivia Night” on April 3, “Stop Go Animation” on April 10, and a “Duct Tape Craft” on April 17. A movie is scheduled for April 24 at 4:00 p.m. Watch as a brilliant neurosurgeon, while on a journey of physical and spiritual healing, is drawn into the world of the mystic arts.

Adults can relax and have fun on Mondays, too. April 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. take part in conversation with friends as you enjoy “Adult Coloring”. On April 17 at 6 p.m. join us for “Pinterest Monday: Earth Day Edition” and try your hand at making Seed Bombs. Be creative on April 24 at 6 p.m. and as part of Money Smart Week make a “Mickey & Friends Mason Jar Bank.

On April 11 & 12 a special “Genealogy Workshop” will be held at the library. The Huron County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will teach Genealogy 101 in our Computer lab. Participants will get a book to take home. Classes are scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Space is limited to 10 people and so sign-up is required. You must be able to attend both nights to take part.

 

 

An Ohio author, Jane Ann Turzillo, will be at the library on Thursday, April 13 at 6 p.m. Jane holds degrees in Criminal Justice Technology and Mass Media Communication from the University of Akron and has also received various professional writing awards. Her presentation, Thursday, will be about her book “Murder & Mayhem on Ohio Rails” and “Ohio Train Disasters”. Her books will be available to buy.

April 20 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. record your family history as it relates personally to you. Fran Evans will be here to teach us how to combine journaling with scrapbooking. Sign-up is requested but not required.

Come to the Willard City Schools on April 27 at 6 p.m. Listen to music and hear some history on the Civil War. The Willard Memorial Library location will be hosting “Tracie and Dewayne Henson” as they present Civil War Music.

On Tuesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. Directions Credit Union will be here to educate us on “Fraud and Identity Theft”. They will return on Friday at 11 a.m. to explain how Senior Citizens can be taken advantage of in a presentation of “Financial Safety in Modern Times”. Come and get your questions answered.

Libraries “Transform” during National Library Week!! On April 10-15 make use of our Food for Fees Event at all of our Huron County Community Library locations. Bring any non-expired & non-perishable items and get fees taken off your card. (Lost or damaged item fees are not eligible.) The items donated will stay in their communities for the following food banks: Wakeman-Caring Community, Willard-Willard Food Bank, North Fairfield-Neighbor to Neighbor, and Greenwich-Plymouth-Shiloh Food Pantry.
