          August is the month for the ending of Summer vacation. The Huron County Community Library invites everyone to take part in our various activities to bring your summer to an end with lots of excitement. All of our library locations would love to have you join us on August 5 from 7-10 a.m. for our 2 nd Annual Mind, Body, & Sole 5K which will be held in Willard this year. The race will start and end at the Annex across from the main Library entrance. All ages and walkers are welcome! There will also be a free Fun Run for the kids following the main race! The entry fee is $5.00 (all proceeds pay for 5k expenses). Checks may be made to the Huron County Community Library. Sponsors for the 5K are Mercy Health, Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Road ID, Level’s Gym, The Friends of the Willard Memorial Library, and the City of Willard.
       Monday, August 7 a from 4:30-7 p.m. our Teens are invited to watch as a group of high-school students, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world. This movie is rated PG-13.
     On Tuesday, August 8, 5:30-7 p.m. come to our Family Movie Night. A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Gregs newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. This movie is rated PG.
     Wednesday, August 9 and 23, 4:30-7:30 p.m., if you are in 6 th grade or higher and LOVE #Manga then our Willard location is the place to be. This Teen Only Book Club is all about Manga. Every 2 weeks there is a new Manga selection to read and discuss. Stop by and visit Miss Jo in the Teen Room for more information. Once school starts the Manga Club meets at the Willard City Schools right after school.
      “The Wolf: Fact vs Myth” will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church across the street
beside the library on Thursday, August 10 from 6-7 p.m. Learn about the family life, habitat, diet, and basic myths concerning wolves. One of their ambassador wolves will be with them!!
     Join us for our annual Murder Mystery Event on Friday, August 11. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The Hawaiian Murder Mystery will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Light refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 6 p.m. Come early and snap a picture in our photo booth. Sign-up is required.
      Teens…are you #Sherlocked? Come try your hand at our Sherlock Scavenger Hunt on Monday, August 14. Can you outsmart the great detective??
Gene Zajac of the Solar System Ambassador Program of NASA will give us information on solar eclipses and safe viewing practices for the upcoming solar eclipse that will take place on August 21. This “Solar Eclipse Preview” will be held in the Community Room of our Willard location on Thursday, August 17 at 6 p.m.
      Kids get ready for the Back-To- School rush with a free drop in craft at our Willard location on August 15. Spend the afternoon creating a Do-It- Yourself Homework Holder. We’ll be decorating plastic magazine holders to help you store your homework on your desk or in your locker. All kids who join us will get a free notebook.
        On Thursday, August 17 at 4 p.m. kids come to the Community Room and play some “Back to School BINGO”. Winners will get to choose a school supply or a coloring/activity book.
      This summer the Willard City Parks and the Huron County Community Library have been hosting “Yoga in the Park” on Saturday mornings from 9-10 a.m. Take part in the event on Saturday, August 19 and bring a mat or beach towel, water, and sun glasses. In
the event of wet conditions, class will be cancelled.
      During Teen Time on Monday, August 21, it will be time to “Rock”! Have fun with Miss Jo by taking part in a “Rock Band Night”. We will be playing this on one of our game systems.
      August 21 will be the first total solar eclipse since 1918. Weather permitting join us at the Willard City Park for a Viewing Party at 2 p.m. We will be passing out FREE viewing glasses to safely view the eclipse. The glasses are from the Moore Foundation and Starnet. There will also be a fun solar themed craft. Sign-up is encouraged.
    “Keep Calm and Game On” on Monday, August 23 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Teens come and play some games with us during our #Teen Time.
    Pinterest Monday is scheduled for Monday, August 28 at 6-7 p.m. Come to the Annex at our Willard location and make a Do-It- Yourself Glass Sun Catcher.
