WILLARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY NEWS
With the coming of June all the excitement of summer is about to begin at all four locations of the
Huron County Community Library. Plan to take part in our Summer Reading Programs that run from June
5 thru July 15. The theme this year is “Build a Better World”. There are lots of activities and events
planned to interest both youth and adults.
Our Willard Memorial Library location will kick off their summer reading on June 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the
Willard City Schools with live SHARKS!!! The Wave Foundation is bringing live sharks for you to touch!
Get up close and personal with these majestic creatures and also see several animal artifacts like shark
jaws, shark eggs, a can of shark fin soup, etc. This event is open to all ages.
It’s easy for adults to take part in summer reading. Simply read and fill out a book rating sheet and get a
chance to win one of our prizes. Stop in to sign up at any time starting June 5. Be one of the first to sign
up and get a coloring bag full of goodies.
Our Annual Huron County Community Library Mind, Body, & Sole Program also starts on June 5.
Sign up and get a free pedometer while supplies last. Take a moment to read something every day and do a
physical activity. Keep track on your log and return it to the library as you hit each milestone, then receive
an incentive prize for each of those milestone. Prizes at the conclusion include Kindles, Fitness Trackers,
and more!
The Willard City Parks and the Huron County Community Library are hosting “Yoga in the Park” in
conjunction with the Library’s Mind, Body, & Sole Program. Join us Saturday mornings 9-10 a.m. by the
Showmobile off the 542 Main Street entrance. Please bring a mat or beach towel, water, and sunglasses.
Various other events are scheduled for adults throughout the month of June. On Wednesday, June 7 at 6
p.m. don’t miss out on “Tree to Table”. Tracy Lockhart of the Olive Scene will be with us to present a
program in the Willard Community Room on the production of olive oil from growing to pressing and
tasting. Come and try tasting olive oils from around the world.
Relax & Refresh with adult coloring on June 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Make and color a bookmark for
yourself as well as one for the local Senior Homes.
Join us at the Willard location for Do-it- yourself Pet Treats on June 12 at 1 p.m. Learn how to make
healthy, easy treats for your pets and also homemade toys. When finished we will be giving any toys to the
Huron County Humane Society.
Proud to Call Willard Home! Come journey into the past with us by looking at some of our Historical
Pictures. Discuss memories, history, and stories of our community of Willard. Help us name people and
places in our collection that haven’t been labeled.

Chime.
