So glad summer is here and now it is time for the Summer Reading Programs to begin at the Huron County Community Library. The theme for this year is “Build a Better World”. Kids come to the library and sign up starting June 5; then start reading to earn tickets and try to win your favorite prize. Also mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on any of the exciting activities and events that are planned.
Preschoolers, a special Summer Reading Program “Read to Me Story Time with Miss Mitzi” is scheduled for Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.. The theme for June7&8 is “Build a Better World”; June 14&15 “All About You…EMOJI”; June 21&22; “We’re Going Buggy”; June 28&29 “In the Construction Zone”.
Kids start on June 7 with Miss Charlotte and make a “Caring Card”; Also take the time between 1-5p.m. to create with a special #Lego Challenge! Stop back on June 14& 21, 1-5 to try more Lego Challenges.
“Remy and Friends” will be here at our Willard location on June 8 at 1 p.m. You will be amazed by illusions, ventriloquism, and juggling. This event will be fun for the whole family!
Join us to explore the “Wacky World of Science Fun”! Ages 6-12 are invited to play, learn, and experiment with us on June 9 from 1-2 p.m. Stop by or call us at 419-933-8564 for more information.
Bill Fisher from the Crawford Park District will be visiting our Willard location on June 13 from 11- noon for a look at the World of Bugs! Come see some creepy, crawly bugs that help to build our world. Bill will return again on June 29 from 1-2 p.m. to help us understand more about the world around us.
Come for a “Friendship Adventure” with Ronald McDonald on June 17 between 4-5 p.m. Audience will participate through music, magic, games and improvisation. The program promotes friendship, cooperation, anti-bullying, and active play. This event will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church across the street from the Library. Don’t forget to bring your camera!!
Kids ages 6-12 join us for an afternoon of science, building, and fun on June 15 1:30 -3p.m. Try your hand at building some Marble Runs, then see if you can beat your friends at some marble races. Don’t forget to play Plinko and check out some Robots.
June 16, from 2-4 p.m. join us for “Intergenerational Game Day”! All ages are invited to come and play all sorts of games.
On June 20 from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. due to limited space, registration is required for a special program. Entomology focuses on the study of insects. To better understand their world and ours, Jenny Filbrun from the Ohio State University is visiting our Willard location for a special look at insects and the world around us. You will get to use microscopes and more. This program is for ages 6-12.
We have been having a blast learning about bugs. Join us in our Youth Services Department on June 22 1:30 -3 p.m. for some “Build-a-Bug” fun. Show us your building skills by building a bug out of construction paper, #Legos, The Cootie Games, and more.
On June 23, from 12-2p.m. all ages are welcome to join us for “Lunch with the Librarians”. Come meet our staff and enjoy good conversation on books, movies, and more. Sign-up is required. Please call 419-933-8564 to reserve your spot.
Drop-in on June 27 530-7:30 p.m. for an afternoon of building fun. Ages 6-12 are invited to help us “Launch It”.
Tuesday Night Movies will be held on June 13,20, and 27 at 5:30 p.m.
The Huron County Community Library invites the whole family to “Kids’ Day at the Willard City Park”. Join us with the City of Willard, Ohio for an afternoon and evening of fun for all ages!
Sillie Tillie will be there from 4:30-6:30 p.m. making balloon animals, hats, and whatever you can dream. We bet you can’t stump her. Don’t forget to get a picture with one of our costumed book characters that will be walking around. Last year Pete the Cat, and Elephant& Piggie joined us. I wonder who will surprise us this year.
Look to have an “EXPLOSIVE” good time when you join us for “Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular” at 7 p.m. All this at the Kid’s Day at the Park!!!
The Kiddie King and Queen contest will be held after “Hillbilly Silly Science”.
Teens stop by the Willard Memorial Library location and register for your special Summer Reading Program; then read tohave a chance to win some cool prizes. Also make plans to take part in various activities and events that are scheduled thru out the month of June.
On June 5 at 4:30 p.m. meet at the Library Annex for a mysterious “Escape Room”. Evil Dr. Murdock has taken a Library staff member hostage. You have 45 minutes to solve the clues, save the staff member, and find out who the Evil Dr. Murdock is!!!
June 10 at 4:30 p.m. meet the Lego Challenge. Hang out with other Teens and be creative building with Legos.
June 12 at 4:30 p.m. make your own Dreamcatcher to take home and on June 15 hang out and take part in Coloring Night.
Minute to Win It is planned for June 19 at 4:30 p.m. Take 1 minute to do balloon popping and much more.
Karaoke Night is planned for June 26 at 4:30 p.m. Come sing and dance to fun tunes like “Cheerleader”, Bad Blood”, and “Uma Thurman”.
