WILLARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY NEWS

Don’t let the cold get you down. Come to the Huron County Community Library to warm up, relax, and take part in
the various activities we have planned for our patrons. From youth to teens to adults, we are sure to have something of
interest for all.
At out Willard Memorial Library location we have a Teen Winter Challenge that starts January 8. Check out a book
and find the hidden questions around the library. Each week will be a new question. It’s a scavenger hunt!! Each
week that you complete the clues found around the library you receive a small prize. Complete all 6 weeks and be
entered into our Grand Prize drawing. The Challenge will end on Feb. 16 th .
Teen Time is held on Mondays at 4:30 p.m. On January 8 make a “no sew” Snowman, on January 22 join us for
Karaoke Night, and on January 29 come make some Snow Slime.
Teen Manga Club is for grades 6 & up and is held at the Willard City Schools. The Club meets on Wednesdays at
2:45 p.m. The books now being read are vol. 2, 3&4 from the series “My Hero Academia” by Kohei Horikoshi.
Adult workshops and events at the library are free and registration is not required unless noted. Join us at the
Willard location in the Annex for a monthly Pinterest inspired craft workshop. On Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. come design a food
safe bowl at our first Pop-Up Ceramic workshop. Bowls will be pre-made. *Registration is required due to limited
space.
Come relax and refresh with Adult Coloring on Mon. Jan 8 from 5-7 p.m. in the library Community Room.
On Thursday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. join us in the Community Room as we take a look at “Human Trafficking with
Sisters in Shelter”. This month is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Find out about this ever expanding
global issue with Sister Mary Kuhlman from Sisters in Shelter. We’ll learn about the warning signs, how to help, and
how our local area is affected. Sisters in Shelter is located in Tiffin, Ohio.
Learn how to use the basic features on your Ipad. Meet with our Staff in the Community Room on Monday, Jan. 29
at 6 p.m. for Ipad 101. Bring your Ipad or use one of ours. Your Ipad must be registered before the program. Please
bring your Apple ID.
Something “new” starting in January!! Come to the library on the first and third Friday of each month from 12-2
p.m. and enjoy “Friday Films@Willard”. Bring a snack to share. Snacks will also be provided and even lunch on
select Fridays. A pizza lunch will be served on Friday, Jan. 5 as we show a PG-13 Warner Bros film. We will go back
in time with this WWII thriller about the evacuation of Dunkirk, France. On Friday, January 19, come see our second
film as Queen Victoria strikes up an unlikely friendship with a young Indian clerk.
Read to Me Storytime is held in the Youth Department on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
This is an early literacy program that features music, stories, crafts, & more. On January 10 & 11 the theme will be
“Things with a Pocket”, on Jan. 17 & 18 “Bread and Jam with Sam”, on
January 24 & 25“Rhyme Time, Nursery Rhymes”, and on January 31 & February 1 “Our Friend Biscuit”.
Read to Me and Independent Readers up to age 12 can sign up in the Youth Services Department for a 6 weeks
Winter reading program called “Dig It!” Each week has a new theme: week 1 is “Yo Yo-YO!”, week 2 is “Fun with
Paper”, week 3 is “Dig it”, week 4 is “Where in the World?”, week 5 is “Get Wild About Reading!” and week 6 is
“Just Keep Reading”.
Wednesdays in January drop in from 4-6 p.m. for fun with Corner Bookmarks. Each Week is a different Bookmark.
Come and be Creative with us. Create “Moving Fish” on Tues. Jan. 16 at 5:30-6 p.m., and make a Dinosaur Craft on
Thurs. Jan. 25 from 4-6p.m.
It’s National Bird Day on Jan. 5, celebrate by creating a flying bird craft starting at 3:30 p.m. Kids ages 6-12, come
to the library and see some fossils up close. Sign up is required.
