     Huron County Community Library will start out the month of August with its Annual 5K Run on August 3 at 8 a.m. sharp.  Sign-in will start at 7 a.m.  Following the 5K will be a Fun Run for kids.  Join us for prizes, fun, and more.

     “Ancestry DNA: What Do I Do with My Results?” will be held in the Community Room at our Willard location on Thursday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m.  Dustin Austin an avid genealogist and President of the Seneca County Genealogical Society will be here with useful tips and tricks to make the most out of your DNA journey so if you’ve had your DNA tested or are on the fence about getting an Ancestry DNA Kit, Dustin will be here to answer your questions.  This program is not endorsed by Ancestry.com or Ancestry DNA and DNA testing kits are NOT available at the program.

     Take a trip on the Titanic with presenter Justin Beebe in the Community Room on Tuesday, August 6 at 6 p.m.  Justin will be here to talk on the “Story of the Titanic: From Her Beginning to Her End”.  Learn fun facts and Stories about that fateful night.

     All ages are invited to an evening of relaxing, coloring, crafting, and movie watching on Monday, August 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Community Room.  Snacks will be provided as you watch Hiccup discover that Toothless isn’t the only Night Fury and he must seek the “Hidden World” before Grimmel does.

     Come enjoy Pinterest Crafts with us on Thurs. Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. at the Willard Enrichment Center or at 6 p.m. at the Library Annex.  Create realistic succulents from paper and plant them in their own pot. 

     Mondays at 4 p.m. is Teen Time at our Willard location.  “Movie Day” is August 5.  Enjoy snacks and watch Carol Danvers become one of the Universes most powerful heroes.  On August 12, Teens take part in “Drop-in Origami”.  Learn how to make origami butterflies, and cranes with Miss Jo.  Calming bottles are all the craze.  Come and make your own calming bottle on August 19th.  “Bad Art Night” is scheduled for August 26.  Do you think you have what it takes to make the worst piece of art?  Stop by during Teen time to make your own masterpiece.  We’ll have prizes for the best “bad” art.

     Dulcimer 101 will be back in the fall.  Dulcimer 102, an intermediate level class, will meet on Monday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. and Wednesday, August 21 at 11 a.m.

     Friday Films usually held in the Community Room will return in the fall.

     Our Youth Services Department has plenty of activities planned to finish up the summer.  Join us for some “Jawsome Fun” on Thursday, August 1 from 1:30-3 p.m. for library Shark Week.  Sign-up is required.  Tuesday Movie will be held in the Community Room at 2 p.m. on Aug. 6.  Come watch what happens in a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, and a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective.  Snacks will be provided.  Let’s Paint on August 8, 1:30 - 4 p.m., and bring your friends to play an afternoon of board games on August 13, 2 – 4 p.m.  Enjoy “Movies, Munchies, and More” in the Community Room on Wednesday, August 14 starting at 1 p.m. and then join us on Thursday, August 15 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room for “Back to School Bingo”.  Join us for the  Tuesday Movie on August 27 at 5:30 p.m. as a dog finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he meets, then stop in on Wednesday August 28 at 3:30 p.m. take part in “Race Your Mouse Day”.

     English as a Second Language Classes are coming to our Willard location of the Huron County Community Library.  This year we will be partnering with Aspire to offer free ESL classes at the library.  Check back with the library for more information on dates and times.
