     Whether you are a child, a teen, or an adult, the Huron County Community Library has lots of events and activities planned to fill your summer calendar.  Programming for June and July revolves around the theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories” (June 3 – July 21) and the return of our “Mind, Body, and Soul” program with will last all summer. 

     The Willard Memorial Library location will keep Teens busy in June starting with Teen Time on Mondays at 4 p.m.  On June 3 find out who is the ultimate Marvel fan by taking part in “Marvel Movie Trivia”.  Everyone’s favorite activity is back.  Join us on June 10 to make “Galaxy Slime”.  Bring your craft skills Teens on June 17 and we will make easy “UFOs” to decorate your room.  Come in and paint with friends on June 24!  Design your own Constellation.

     Do you love Kpop??  Come talk about your favorite group and learn some more about Kculture with Miss Jo.  Kpop Thursday is planned for June 13 and June 27 at 2 p.m.

     Join us, Teens, on Tues. June 4 and Tues. June 18at 4 p.m. at Determination Nutrition and stay fit with fun, free classes of Cardio Drumming.  The location of the classes is 10 S. Myrtle Ave.  Show up for a chance at extra tickets for our prize drawings.  Sign-up is Required.

     Explore the Marvel Cinematic Universe all summer long.  Each showing is a chance to win extra tickets toward prizes and all the shows are free.  Movie Day Wednesday begins at noon with double features.  On June 5, watch as a rejected military soldier transforms after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum” and  next after being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.  June 12, with the world now aware of his identity, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy.  Next watch as this powerful but arrogant god is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.  June 19, Earth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity and then see when Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.  June 26, see Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) get cursed with a powerful entity known as the Aether, and Thor is heralded of the cosmic event known as the Convergence and the genocidal Dark Elves. In the second feature watch as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and he teams up with a fellow agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history.

     Pinterest Workshops are held on Mondays at the Annex of our Willard Location.  “Picture This!” photo art series explores the world of photography and nature.  On June 10 at 6 p.m. learn the technique of transferring a photo onto wood; on June 17 at 1 p.m. using the sun, transfer a negative image onto a tote bag; and on June 24 at 6 p.m. bring your own mementos and images from home and create a personal memory box.

     It’s time for a science Bake-off on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. in the Annex.  Design the Solar System using food!  We supply the food and you supply the creativity to make a solar system themed food art project.  This is a fun competition with prizes for the winners!

     Sign-up is required Adults for a special activity to be held at Determination Nutrition, 10 S. Myrtle Ave.  Join us for Cardio Drumming and stay fit with this fun, free class.  Turn simple movements with drumsticks and a ball into a full-body workout.  Class is limited to 20.

     Tuesday, June 25 from 6-7:30 pm, test your memories of Willard history with a trivia game in our Community Room.  Join us to test your local pride with word and image based questions.

     Dulcimer 101 meets in the Community Room on Mon. June 10 and Mon. June 24 at 6 p.m.  Come and learn to play the Dulcimer and learn some fun songs.  Sign-up is required.  Dulcimers are made available to use and are paid for by the Friends of the Library.  Dulcimer 102 is scheduled for Wed. June 5 and Wed. June 19 at 11 a.m. and is an intermediate class.  It also meets in the Community Room.  Sign-up is required.

     Mind, Body, & Sole workshops and events will be held all summer long.  Stop by your local HCCL locations for a complete list of events from Storybook walks to Yoga in the Park.  All health and exercise series are open to the public.  You don’t have to take part in Mind, Body, & Sole to take part in the activities.  Mind, Body, & Sole winds up on Saturday, August 3 at 8 a.m. with the 5K Race which starts and finishes at the Willard Memorial Library Annex.

     This summer the Willard Memorial Library location is partnering with the Willard City Parks to fill Saturdays with free exercise opportunities for the community.  All ages are welcome!!  Classes will meet near the Showmobile.  Please bring water.

     Refit Revolution @the Park will meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month.  In the event of bad weather classes will move to the CMA Church.  This is a fun dance exercise class for all ages.  The class for June will be Saturday, June 15 at 9 a.m. 

     Yoga @the Park is a FREE beginners yoga class.  In the event of bad weather these classes will be canceled.  The first class will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 9 a.m.

     “Read to Me Storytime” is held on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.  On June 5 & 6 the story time theme will be “Catch a Falling Star”.  Special guests this session will be local veteran, Jim Enderby, who will read to our kids, and Susan Moore who will talk about “Ohio Flags of Honor”.  June 12 & 13 the story time theme is “Shoot for the Moon”; June 19 & 20 the theme is “Rocket to the Library…and Beyond”; and June 26 & 27 “Trekking Across our Universe”. 

     Independent readers have a Decorate a Star Contest June 3 through June 14.  Help us decorate the Youth Services Department with a star.  Decorated stars may be submitted through June 14th.  Winners will be announced June 17.

     Summer Reading is finally here!!!  Week 1 for our Youth is “All Systems are Go”!!  On Tuesday, June 4, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. soar into space or ride a roller coaster without leaving the library.  Join us for some Virtual Reality, hands on fun with the Virtual Reality Kit from the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System.  Take in a movie with us on Wed., June 5 at 1:30 p.m.  Enjoy watching what happens after it has been five years since everything was awesome in the Lego Universe and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.  As the week ends stop by the Youth Services Department for a “Drop in Roll-A-Dice Game”.  Bring a friend and share the fun!

     “Explore the Possibilities”, kids, during Week 2 of Summer Reading.  On Tuesday, June 11 at 4 p.m. take part in the “Lunar LEGO Building Challenge”.  Do you have what it takes to build a   Lunar model out of Legos?  Join us in the Community Room on Wed. June 12 at 1:30 p.m. for a FREE movie.   Check in the Youth Department for more information on what awesome film we’ll be featuring.  End week 2 by winning prizes with an afternoon of BINGO on Thurs. June 13 at 4 p.m.

     Week 3 of Summer Reading will prove to be exciting with “The Skies above My Eyes”!  On Monday, June 17 (times will vary), the Educational Center of Lake Erie W is bringing a Planetarium to Willard!!  This event will be held at St. Francis School (sign-up is REQUIRED).  The sign-up will be with Miss Charlotte for a chance to see the stars close up.  Space is limited.  Times will be assigned at sign-up for entering the Planetarium.  “A2Magic”   is scheduled for Tuesday, June 18 at 11 a.m.  All ages are invited to join us in the Annex for a fun filled and action packed magic show with A2 Magic.  Jeff Wawrzaszek presents his “Supernatural Intergalactic Summer Reading Magic Spectacular”!  Join us Wednesday, June 19 at 1:30 p.m. for a movie and craft in the Community Room.  Check with the Youth Services Department for information on this film.  Come learn about our marvelous solar system on Thursday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. with NASA Solar System Ambassador Gene Zajac.  What would you like to know about the planets?  Discover the planets through Earth’s telescopes and satellites.

     Week 4 of Summer Reading winds up the month of June with “Dream Big…Aim High”!  Artist Jeff Nichols is back with us on Monday, June 24 at 1 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.  Come learn to draw fun characters with this hands on workshop. The Ohio Honor Flags are coming to Willard June 28-30.  Stop by the library on Tuesday, June 25 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. to create some patriotic crafts to welcome this amazing memorial.  Kids’ Day at the Park (Willard City Park) will be held on Wednesday, June 26 from 4:30-7 p.m.  Join Miss Charlotte at the Festival in the Park for an afternoon of free family fun!  Sillie Tillie will be creating balloon magic.  Meet your favorite book characters, Fly Guy and Llama, Llama! 

     So much happening in June BUT much more coming in July!
