The Willard location of the Huron County Community Library invites you to join us on Monday May 13 at 6 p.m. for this year’s Annual Tea Party. Travel the rails with us and enjoy tea and refreshments on the historic railroad china on loan from the Willard City Schools. This special event will be held at the Senior Enrichment Center and the entertainment will be provided by Adam Miller, American folksinger and storyteller. Adam will be telling the history of the railroad through story and song. By 1920 one out of every 28 Americans worked for the railroad. No wonder people still sing so many songs about trains, hobos, conductors, engineers. and the days of the steam engine. Sign-up is required for this event.
Local author, Mark Strecker, will be here on Thursday, May 16 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. He will talk about his book “Americans in a Splintering Europe”. This historical talk will cover 1914 to 1917. Between August 1914 and March of 1917, the United States was a neutral power and its citizens declared as neutrals. Despite this, many found themselves in the midst of the fighting either willingly or unwillingly. Come and hear their story.
