The Huron County Community Library offers a variety of programs and events for our communities.  From small children to teens to adults we offer many levels of interest for our patrons to choose from.

    At our Willard Memorial Library location Teens can enjoy time with their friends by taking part in Teen Time on Monday afternoons at 4 pm.  On Sept. 10 relax and enjoy Movie Night.  Watch with us as the Avengers and their allies sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.  Snacks will be provided.

     On Sept. 17 there will be “Virtual Escape Room”.  Can you take on the Virtual Escape rooms?  Come in and use tablets in the teen room to make your way out of Virtual Escape Rooms.

     “Stem Challenge: Ferris Wheel” will be held on Sept. 24.  Come build a Ferris wheel out of popsicle sticks.  Are you up to the challenge?

     Story Time is held on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.  This is an early literacy program that features music, stories, crafts, and more.  On Sept. 5 & 6 the story time theme is “Back to School with ABC’s and 123’s”, on Sept. 12 & 13: “Apples Grow on Trees”, on Sept.19, 20: “The Farmer Says”, and on Sept. 26& 27: “The Colors of Fall”.

     Two special craft days are planned for September.  On Thursday, Sept. 6 from 4-6 p.m. Drop in and make a fun Grandparent’s Day Craft and on Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 4-6 p.m. it’s talk like a Pirate Day. Drop in for some special Pirate Fun!

     Elephant and Piggie Day is Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Join us for an afternoon of your favorite book characters!  It’s time for all things Elephant and Piggie!

     Jungle Island Zoo is coming to Train Fest!!!   Join us on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for a FREE petting zoo!  Sure to be fun for all ages!!

     Meet with us in the Annex for an adult workshop “Paint It”.  This is a four-part series of easy painting ideas for beginners.  Sign-up is required for each workshop.  The classes are on Mondays at 6 p.m.  Sept. 10 class is “Lovebirds on a Wire”, Sept 17 is “Tape on Canvas Abstract/ Pointillism”, Sept 24 is “Wood Plaque: HOME with the State of Ohio”, and Oct. 1: “Simple Acrylic Painting with instruction”.

     On Thursday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. at the Willard Enrichments Center a workshop will be held called “Watercolor Birds on a Wire”.  On a back ground of old sheet music we will use watercolors to create a painting of two lovebirds on a wire.

     Three presentations are scheduled in our Community Room.  The first presentation on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. is a Probiotic Wellness Class with consultant Tami Ledford.  This will be an interactive class on the natural and healthy way to support the body repairing itself from a wide variety of issues using probiotics.  Tami will be bringing samples of probiotic teas and discussing their health benefits.

     “Soothe the Soul with Music”, our second presentation will be held on Thurs. Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.  Vanessa Cook, music therapist and Heidelberg University instructor will discuss her job and how music can sooth the mind, body, and soul.

     Our third presentation is called “Requiem for a Tree”.  Join the Willard Historical Society and our own Reference Librarian, Barb Templeman, for this presentation based on an article of the same name from a Dec. 15, 1988, Willard –Times Junction article written by Joe Dush.  Patrons will be asked to join in a conversation about various historical events that happened throughout the years nationally and locally in our home town.  Join us as our memories take us from our years as Chicago Junction to our present day Willard.

     On Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Annex will be “Instant Pot 101”.  Have an Instant Pot and are just not sure how to use it?  Thinking of buying one as a gift for yourself?  Come and take the mystery out of using the Instant Pot.  Learn the tips and tricks and taste some yummy dishes.
