     English as a Second Language Classes are coming to Willard this Fall.  The Willard Memorial Library location of the Huron County Community Library will be partnering with Aspire to offer FREE ESL Classes at the Library.  Adult classes will begin their registration on Saturday, September 7 at 10 a.m.  The classes themselves will begin on Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m. in the library’s Community Room.

     Join us for a live, historical storytelling in the Community Room on Thursday, September 12 at 6 p.m.  Be enlightened and entertained by Stephanie Kramer who will be performing as Katharine Wright, the only sister of Orville and Wilbur Wright.  Katharine was an Oberlin College graduate, teacher, and secretary with an interesting Ohio story.

     We are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the “Mondays with Meg Book Club”.  To celebrate we are hosting a special visitor-Ohio author, Mary Ellis.  Mary is the author of 25 novels.  Please note this event is held on Friday, September 13 at 6 p.m. which is after normal library hours and will be held in our Community Room.

     Come share your childhood memories on Thursday, September 26 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.  Join us in the Annex as Fran Evans shows you how to re-create your own memories with words and pictures.  This type of scrapbooking is a special way to preserve and share your family history.

     Celebrate the return of “Downton Abbey” to the big screen with an evening of trivia.  Come have fun with us in the Community Room on Thursday, September 26 at 6 p.m. and test your “Downton” trivia skills.  Win prizes! Enjoy snacks!

     Our “Pop Up Studio” series is back!  Use your creativity on Monday, September 16 by gluing buttons on wood to make a tree for your wall, then on Sept. 23 glue Red buttons on fabric covered canvas to create a colorful cardinal.  On September 30 learn about artist, Jackson Pollock and his painting technique of splashing, dribbling, pouring, and smearing to create paintings.  Pop Up Studio meets in the Annex on Mondays at 6 p.m.

     Join us Teens on Mondays at 4 p.m. for Teen Time.  On September 9, bring your friends and watch as the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe.

     Board game Night with Miss Jo is planned for September 6.  Bring your own game or try one of ours and enjoy an evening of fun.

     Explore the World of Tattoos by making your own temporary tattoo on September 23 and then on September 30 see if you have got what it takes to stay quiet while playing funny games.  Come test yourself with our “Silent Library Games Challenge”!

     Read to Me Storytime is an early literacy program that features music, stories, crafts, and more.  Wednesday story time is held at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday story time at 6:30 p.m.  The theme for Sept. 4&5 is “Backpacks, Books, & Back to School…Cool”, Sept. 11&12 story time is “Tick Tock Goes the Clock”.  The theme on Sept. 18&19 is “A is for Apple” and Sept. 25&26 is “Fall Friends and Fun”.

     “Jungle Island Zoo” is back!!  Stop by our Annex on Saturday, is September 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and visit the animals at this free petting zoo.  All ages are invited.

     The following activities are offered in our Youth Department for the month of September:  stop in and make a Grandparents Day Craft on Sept. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Celebrate Read-A-Book Day on September 5 at 5 p.m. by making a book craft and hearing a story or two.  On Sept. 16 from 4 to 5 p.m. celebrate International Dot Day with some art fun.  Join us for a free movie in the Community Room on Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m. and have some fun with us on Sept. 19 for Talk Like a Pirate Day.  Experiment with nature and paint on Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. with Miss Char and experiment with leaf painting.

     Stop in and see us!!  There is always plenty to do at the Library!!
