WILLARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY NEWS

 

The chill in the air lets us know that it is time to grab the jackets and come to the Huron County Community Library to warm up and take part in all the various activities planned for November. Check out our website for the dates and times of what is planned at each location.

All pre-school kids are invited to the Willard location to enjoy good stories, fun activities and special treats on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. The Storytime themes for Nov. 8 & 9 is “Little Library Detectives”, Nov. 15 & 16 “Thankful for Storytime”, Nov. 22 “Let’s Talk Turkey”, and Nov. 29 & 30 “Snuggle Up”.

Tuesday, Nov. 7 is Family Movie Night. Join us at 5:30 p.m. as Lightning McQueen sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he's still the best race car in the world. This movie is rated PG and lasts approximately 103 min.

Kids come to the library on Nov. 16 between 4 & 6 p.m. and create a special Thanksgiving craft and then enjoy snacks and crafts during an afternoon @ the movies on November 22 starting at 12:30 p.m.

Teen Time is held on Mondays at 4:30 p.m. On Nov. 13, Teens come and enjoy snacks and drinks while you watch Peter Parker as he balances his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens with his superhero alter-ego, and finds himself on the trail of a new menace prowling the skies of New York City. November 20 is Stress Ball DIY. Create your own stress ball using a balloon and flour. Finally, come show us your decorating skills on Nov. 27 with “Cupcake Wars”. Finalists will have their cupcake creation posted on our Facebook page.

Sign-up for Genealogy 101 which will be held on Nov. 8 & 9 at 6 p.m. The Huron County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will help you learn how to begin the search of your family history. This is a 2 day workshop. Both sessions must be attended. Call the library to register. Wednesday’s session will be held in the Community Room and Thursday’s in the Computer Room.

See the documentary of the Haunted Carey School produced by the Carey Area Paranormal Energy Research Society on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Community Room. Take in a Q&A. See video evidence and hear from real paranormal investigators.

Mark your calendars for our special “Holiday DIY 101” to be held on Mondays at 6 p.m. in the library Annex. On Nov. 13 make a “Santa Ornament”, on Nov.21 (at 1 or 6 p.m.) make a “No-Sew Fleece Scarf”, create “Ohio String Art” on Nov. 27 (sign-up is required), create a “Rustic Paint Stick Star” on Dec. 4, and make a “Magnetic Memo Board” Dec. 11.

The Huron County Community Library will be serving the traditional “Stone Soup” downtown on November 17 during the Annual Christmas Parade. Stop by our Annex and get a FREE cup starting at 6 p.m. Don’t forget to check out our float in the parade: “A Charlie Brown Christmas”!!

Our libraries will be closed to honor Veteran’s Day on Nov. 10 & 11 and to celebrate Thanksgiving on Nov. 23&24.
