WILLARD MEMORIAL LIBRARY NEWS

Let the Huron County Community Library lift your holiday spirit with plenty of Christmas Holiday activities. All ages are invited to join us at the Willard Memorial Library location for crafts, movies, and much more.

Read to Me Storytime is held on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. The theme for Dec. 6&7 is “Winter all Around Us” and on Dec. 13&14 “It’s Christmas Time!”

On Friday, Dec. 1, the Youth Department kicks off its Coloring Contest. Entries are due no later than 8 p.m. on Dec. 20. Winners for each age group (2-6 and 7-12) will be announced on Dec. 21.

December offers kids 4 days of drop-in crafts. Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 4-6 p.m. create a “Christmas Cone Craft”. The next three days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. take part in special New Year’s Projects. On Wednesday, Dec. 27 make a “Year of the Dog Coloring Mosaic”, on Thursday, Dec. 28 make a “Surprise Craft”, and on Friday, Dec. 29, create a “Standing Dog Craft”.

Kids come take part in a special “Karaoke Christmas” on Tuesday, December 19 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and while you’re here have fun making Christmas Corner Bookmarks.

Watch movies, movies, and more movies on Thursday, Dec. 21 all afternoon beginning at 12:30 p.m. and then on Friday, Dec. 22, join us all day to watch cartoons and play games.

Teens be sure to come and take part in Teen Time on Mondays at 4:30 p.m. On Dec.4 make a “Folding Christmas Tree” from a book and then decorate it with presents. Dec. 11 watch a movie about a pilot that crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world and then Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny. Finally on Dec. 18 take part in a Christmas Party and create a Gingerbread House, enjoy Karaoke Christmas music, and play Christmas Charades.

Manga Club for teens meets at the Willard City School on Monday, Dec 13 at 2:45 p.m.

Create your own gift tags and gift card holders with our guest instructors, Barth and Nancy Gibson. Join us on Wednesday Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in our Willard Annex and have fun making these lovely items to adorn your Christmas packages.

It’s time again for our annual Drop-in Christmas Ornament Night!! You can make one of our sample ornaments or create one of your own. “Make it and take it” on Thursday, December 21 anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Our two book discussion groups will be meeting on Monday, Dec.11 at 10 a.m. to discuss, “Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. to discuss, “Winter Street” by Ellen Hilderbrand.

The Huron County Community Library will be closed Dec. 24 thru Dec. 26 to celebrate the Christmas Holiday.
