April is a good month to start getting back into the swing of things. Come out of your winter doldrums and take part in the many activities the Huron County Community Library has planned.
On Monday, April 25 at 6 p.m. sign-up for a class in “Cricut 101: Heat Transfers”. The workshop location will be held in the Willard location Community Room. The class is limited to 30 people. We will take a look at HTV decals and do a small project.
Join Jarrad each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Willard for a new computer class series using Northstar Digital Literacy. These classes will cover basic computer skills from connecting to the internet to troubleshooting basic computer challenges. On April 7 the lesson will be “ Devices and Computer log on”; on April 14 “Mouse Skills and Mouse Shapes”; April 21 “Handout Review and Questions” and April 28 “Fixing Typos and Keyboard Keys”. Two special programs are planned for the Youth Department at our Willard location. April 4 through April 9, families are invited to stop in and pick up a package of Peeps and a box to create their own Peeps Diorama. Return the Diorama by April 1 for a chance to win and have your creation on display. We’ll feature 3 winners; a library staff favorite, a fan favorite, and most recognizable book.
Let’s make a plaster craft on Thursday, Apr. 21 at 4:30 p.m. in the annex. Kids will have fun making a photo holder or seed holder. You will even get some seeds to take home at the end.
Join Miss Mitzi every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Willard for in-person Storytime. Stop by the Community room for stories, crafts, and more. On April 6 the theme is “National Library Week”; on April 13 “It’s Egg Time”; on Apr. 20 “Rain, Rain, Rain” and on April 27 “How my Garden Grows”. There will be no Storytime in May as Miss Mitzi gets ready for a spectacular Summer Reading.
Beginner Line Dancing continues at the Wakeman Masonic Hall across the street from our Wakeman Library location. Join us on April 7 and 21at 4 p.m.
Also at Wakeman, Adult “Take and Make” craft kits are available the month of April while supplies last.
“Stream for Free at the Library is held on Wednesdays at Wakeman from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. On Apr. 6 the theme is “Tin Can Rabbit”, on Apr. 13 “Plaster Egg Magnets”, Apr. 20 “Pot a Perennial”, and Apr. 27 “Jelly Bean Structures”.
Preschool Storytime in Wakeman take place on Mondays at 6 p.m. or Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Choose whichever you prefer.
Hey Teens! Stop by our Greenwich location for a weekly “Take and Make” craft kit. On
April 17 create a Spring Canvas Painting and on Apr. 21 make DIY Poppers.
Join Miss Jenny for Storytime at Greenwich on Wednesday evenings at 5 p.m. or Friday mornings at 11 a.m. The Theme for Apr. 6 & 8 is “Butterflies”, Apr. 13 is “Spring Party”, Apr. 20 & 22 is “Leap into Science: Wind, and Apr. 27 & 29 is “The Hungry Caterpillar”. Greenwich will have no May Storytime in order to prepare for our “Oceans of Possibility” summer.
Stop by Greenwich and North Fairfield and pick up a weekly “Take and Make” craft kit for the family. The week of April 4 kit will be “National Pillow Fight Day”; April 11 is “Flowers”, April 18 is “Hand Print Bunnies” and April 25 is a “Spring Surprise” craft.
North Fairfield Storytime is Tues. April 19 at 11 a.m. Join Carolyn and also get a fun sign language lesson. Also stop by and pick up a weekly “Take and Make” craft for families and teens.
Celebrate warmer weather and spring with an easy bunny craft. Come to each of the Huron County Community Library locations on April 14 and pick up your kit to create a foam dice bunny.
There is nothing more relaxing than a good book. Check out each of our libraries and take advantage of our Reader’s Advisory or Book Discussions. “Monday Reads” gets together at Willard on the second Monday of every month at 10 a.m. For April the book for discussion is “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng.
“Turn the Page” book discussion meets on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. in the Willard Conference Room. On April 28 everyone will share their thoughts on “Nine Perfect Strangers” by Liane Moriarty.
“Manga Club” will meet at the Willard City Schools on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:45 p.m. Teens can contact Mrs. Rogers at our Willard location for more information.
“Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s book club will meet on Wednesday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. They will be talking about the book “Everything Sad is Untrue” by Daniel Nayer.
“Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” meets the last Wednesday of each month in the Willard Annex. The theme for April 27 at 6 p.m. is breakfast/brunch. What is your favorite recipe?
“Wakeman’s Cookbook Club” will meet Monday, April 4 at 6 p.m. They will feature the book “Raised in the Kitchen by Carrian Cheney.
“No Strings Attached” book selection at our Greenwich library would like you to stop by and let staff help you find your next favorite author.
The “Inspirational Book Club” at our North Fairfield library would love to have you visit and let Carolyn find an amazing new read for you!
