     August brings the end of our Summer Reading Program but not the activities at the Huron County Community Library.  Between the County Fair and preparing for school at the end of the month, each of our locations have various things planned to help fill up our patrons’ remaining summer days.

     At our Willard Memorial library location, Tweens and Teens are invited to join Mrs. Rogers in the Teen Room for fun activities, crafts, and more.  On Thursday, August 3 at 4 p.m. come and have some fun with Medical Research.  We’ll take a look at the brain and the heart.  

     On August 10 at 4 p.m. come and create Aluminum Action Figures.  

     Then on August 17, at 4 p.m. come and do fingerprinting.  Learn how to fingerprint and what it shows.  

     On August 24 at 4 p.m. chill out with ice cream during the first week of school.  Sign-up is required for the ice cream activity.   The Teen/Tween programs are meant for ages 11 thru 18.

     The Youth Services Department at our Willard location invites kids to join us in the Community Room for “Back to School Bingo” on Tuesday, August 8 at 2 p.m.  Come join us for a chance to win back to school supplies and some fun surprise prizes, too.

     Kids it is time to show your building skills.  Join us in the Youth Services programming room on Thursday, August 31 at 4:30 p.m. for Lego Challenges.

     Adults, join us for Pinterest Monday August 21 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Annex.  Create your own unique set of coasters.  Learn different ways that you can use alcohol ink.  Sign-up is appreciated.

     On Thursday, August 24 at 6 p.m. adults are invited to join us in the Willard Annex.  Sign-up is required on the date to create a Macramé Feather Keychain.

     Create a coaster using wooden pallets and learn some different ways of stenciling on Thursday, August 10 at 10 a.m.  This activity will take place at the Willard Enrichment Center.

     Johanna Beebe holds Dulcimer 101 Workshops in the Willard Memorial Library community room.  Join her on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.  This month classes will be held on August 9 and 23.  The class size is limited so sign-up is required.

     Get moving with the library by taking free Line Dance workshops with the library.  Join the Rockin’ Mamas at the Willard Enrichment Center on August 10 at 6 p.m. for this fun new way to exercise.  Call or stop by the Willard library location to reserve your spot.

     If you love to write, join our “Writers’ Group at our Willard Memorial library location.  The group will meet on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m.  Contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.

     Bring your computer questions to the library during “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad”.  Jarrad will answer questions, review topics, and more.  “Tech Thursdays” is available every Thursday 6:30 pm. at our Willard location.

     “Monday Reads” will meet in the Willard Community Room on Monday, August 14 at 10 a.m. to discuss “The Midnight News” by Jo Baker.  

     “Turn the Page Book Club” will get together on Thursday, August 31 at 6 p.m. to share their thoughts on “Fahrenheit 451” by Heidi Perks.

     “Who Picked This Book” our Wakeman location book club will meet Monday, August 21 at 5:30 p.m. to talk about the book “Unlikely Animals” by Annie Hartnett. 

     “Who’s Cooking Today?” our Wakeman Kids’ cookbook club will get together on Tuesday, August 1 at noon.  Kids will be using the book “Recipe a Day Kid’s Cookbook” by the Food Network. Visit the Wakeman Circulation desk for a copy of the cookbook and pick out a recipe to cook and to share.

     “Wakeman Cookbook Club” meets on Monday, August 7 at 6 p.m.  They will be using “The Complete Summer Cookbook” by America’s Test Kitchen.

      Join one of our Huron County Community Library book discussion groups by calling or stopping in at any of our library locations.

     Pinterest Monday at our Wakeman location is on August 18 at 5:30 p.m.  Adults join us in creating a unique set of coasters using alcohol ink.

     On Monday, August 7 at 6 p.m. our Greenwich location will also be creating unique coasters using alcohol ink.  Sign-up is appreciated.  

     Are you super excited about the first day of school?  Do you need some cheering up because summer is over?  Stop in at our Greenwich location anytime Monday, Aug.21 or Tuesday, Aug. 22 and grab a snack, and make a fun back-to-school themed craft.

     The North Fairfield Library will close at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 4 for the annual Street Fair Festivities!   Join the Huron County Community Library at the North Fairfield Street Fair on Saturday, August 5 at 5:30 p.m.  We will present Professor Brian at that time.  You’ll marvel at his amazing juggling and illusions during his hour-long high-energy show that is suitable for all ages.

      While the big kids go Back-to-School, the little ones can go Back-to-Storytime.  Join Carolyn at our North Fairfield location on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. while she shares songs and stories.  Stay after to play if you like.  

     The “Sit and Stitch” group at North Fairfield will get together on Mondays, Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28 at 10 a.m.  Bring a project and join other crafty folks for conversation while crafting. 

    Take advantage of the activities at anyone of our Huron County Community Library locations.
