    December is a busy month for sure, but plan to make room for the different activities that all of our Huron County Community Library locations have planned to make your holiday season even more festive.

 

     Visit Wakeman for their Christmas in the Village on Saturday, December 2.  While there, take part in our Wakeman’s “Christmas at the Library” featuring Western Reserve A Cappella Group” from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Local author Rodger Roeser will join us and share a few pages from his book.  Make sure you also visit the Storybook Trail along the sidewalk at the library during the month of December.

 

     Kids stop by the Wakeman Library for Pop-in and Play on Wednesdays, Dec. 6 and 13 at 10:30 a.m.

 

     Design and build a Gingerbread House at our Wakeman location.  On Tuesday, Dec. 5 at noon for our Homeschool Families, on Friday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. for our Preschool Families, and on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 3:30 or 5:30 p.m. for our after-school session.  Registration is required.  Call 440-839-2976 to reserve your time.

 

     Wakeman’s “Grab and Go Holiday Ornament will be available while supplies last beginning Dec. 18.  Stop by and pick up your kit and inside you will find supplies to make your own light bulb snowman ornament.

 

     “Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman Book Club will meet on Monday, December 18 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Silent Night” by Stanley Weintraub.

 

     The “Wakeman Cookbook Club” will meet and share recipes from “A Very Merry Christmas Cookbook” by Gooseberry Patch. Pick up a copy of the cookbook at the Wakeman circulation desk and join us on Monday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

 

     Chris will have stories and fun for our youngest library patrons during Storytime at our Greenwich location on Fri. Dec. 1, 15, and 22 at 11 a.m.

 

    On Dec. 7, 11, and 14 (all day) at our Greenwich library, learn how to make a simple, yet intricate folded German Star.  Use it as an ornament or a decorative accent. 

 

     Kids ages 4-12 are invited to come to the Greenwich Library anytime between 3:30 and 6:30 each week for “Afternoon Creations with Lisa”.  On Wednesday, Dec. 6 Make “Holiday Houses” that are a sweet creation that won’t give you cavities.  Sign up is required.  On Wednesday, Dec. 13 come and make felt Christmas ornaments.  On Dec. 20, decorate your own wrapping paper and bring a special present to wrap.

 

     Homeschool families are invited to our Greenwich Library for a morning of learning activities and fun.  On Thursday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. celebrate the anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first flight as we explore the world of flight.  Please note although all ages are welcome, the activities are geared toward ages 6-10.

 

     Learn about diamond art and make a diamond ornament at our Greenwich location on Monday, Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.

 

     Families are invited to the Greenwich Library any time after 3 p.m. to create a fun craft with Becky.  On Dec. 19, 20, and 21, create a Christmas tree.

 

     Card Night will be held on Monday, Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m.  Come learn a new game or play an old favorite.

 

     “The Mystery and Thriller Book Club” at Greenwich has selected “Sugar Cookie Murder” by Joanne Fluke for December.

 

     Stop in and pick up your Countdown to Christmas calendar.  It is full of holiday activities taking place at the Greenwich Library, the school, and in the community.  There’s something for every day.

 

     Do you have a special gift to wrap but need a spot away from prying eyes?  The Greenwich Library Programming room will be equipped with paper and ribbons for you to use from Dec. 17-23.

 

     If “Afternoon Creations with Lysa” is not convenient for you on Wednesdays at our Greenwich location then maybe coming to our North Fairfield location on Mondays from 3:30 to 6:30 will work better for you.  On Dec. 4, create a sweet holiday house, on Dec. 11 make felt Christmas ornaments, and on Dec. 18 decorate your own wrapping paper.|

 

     Join Carolyn for North Fairfield Storytime on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m.

 

     On Friday, Dec.1 at 1 p.m. join us at our North Fairfield location for Pinterest Craft Day.  Learn how to make a twisted easel holiday card and a fun diamond art ornament.

 

     North Fairfield’s “Sit and Stitch” group meets every Monday at 10 a.m.  Bring a project to work on and join other like-minded crafters.

 

     Something NEW at the North Fairfield Library: every Monday that the library is open, kids of all ages (even adults) are welcome to come to the library from 2:30 until 3:30 to learn how to knit or crochet.

 

     North Fairfield’s “Inspirational Book Club” selection for December is “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans.”

 

     At our Willard Memorial Library location our “Happy Holly Days” event will raise your spirits on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 5-7 p.m.  We will have live reindeer with Sell’s Reindeer Farm, Mrs. Claus will have some special stories and gifts, and Jingle the Elf will have crafts.  All this will take place in our Annex.  Also, that night our Annual Ornament Explosion will be held in the library Community Room.  Come make a variety of ornaments with us.  All ages are Welcome.

 

     Tweens and Teens join Mrs. Rogers this month at 4 p.m. in the Teen Room for special Holiday crafts.  On Dec. 7 come and make Cinnamon Ornaments, on Dec. 21 try Pouring a Christmas tree, and Dec. 28, chill out with us with NEW games and snacks.  Don’t forget to join us Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. to make Holiday ornaments at our “Happy Holly Days”.

 

     Willard Storytime for December will meet on Wednesdays, Dec. 6&13 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays, Dec. 7&14 at 6:30 p.m.  The themes will be “Joyful Days of Winter” and “Oh, Christmas Tree”.

 

     Hey Kids, “Light up the Holidays” in the Willard Community Room on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m.  Join Miss Char to make a fun Holiday tree or Snowman luminary.

 

     A “Disguise a Gingerbread Man Contest” will take place on Thursday, Dec. 7 through Thursday, Dec. 21.  Stop by the Willard Youth Services Department and pick up a blank gingerbread man to disguise.  Voting will take place for most creative, best disguise, and favorite overall.

 

     Drop by our Willard location, kids, on Dec. 21 from 1-3 p.m. and use your creativity to make a reindeer ornament or a scene in a lid ornament.

 

     The monthly LEGO building challenge will meet in the Community Room on Dec. 19 at 4:30 p.m. 

 

     Game Day Extravaganza will be held in the Willard Community Room on Thursday, Dec. 28 from 1-3 p.m.  Kid’s ages 6-12 are invited to join staff for an afternoon of gaming.

 

     Pinterest Monday, an adult workshop, will be held in the Willard Annex on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m.  Diamond Art is trending everywhere.  Come and learn why with us and make a diamond art ornament.

 

     Join us Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Willard Enrichment Center for a craft time with the Library.  Come and make a Holiday terrarium with us.  This makes a great decoration or ornament.  Ages 18 and older can stick around for a yummy lunch provided by the Enrichment Center.



      Dulcimer 101 Workshops will be held in the Willard Community Room on Wednesdays Dec. 6 and 27 at 11 a.m.  Sign-up is required.  Learn with Johanna Beebe on our dulcimers or com and sharpen your skills.

     “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” are available in the Willard Memorial Library computer lab every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.  Just drop in with your computer questions.

 

     “Monday Reads” will meet in the Willard Community Room at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11 to share their thoughts on “Merry Little Meet Cute” by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone.

 

     “Turn the Page Book Discussion” will discuss the “Miracle Creek” by Angie Kim in the Willard Community Room on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 6 p.m.

 

     On Thursday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. join the “Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” at the Willard Annex to enjoy our favorite baking treats and to play some fun games.

 

     Willard “Friends of the Library” pet and family pictures with Santa will be held in the Willard Annex on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

 

     All HCCL locations will be closed Dec. 25 & 26.
