Our Library Patrons are our favorite Valentines at each of our Huron County Community   Library locations.  Come visit us and see the many activities and programs we have planned especially for you during the month of February!

Do you love to talk about books?  Our Willard location has several book discussions you can join.  On Monday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. join us for “Monday Reads” as we share our thoughts on “Hour of the Witch” by Chris Bohjalian.  

On Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. “Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” has chosen chocolate and dinners for two as the theme for the month of February.

“Turn the Page Book Discussion” will meet on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. and talk about “All Adults Here” by Emma Straub.

“Manga Club” is for grades 6-8 and is held at the Willard City Schools.  Contact teen librarian Mrs. Rogers or Mrs. Stevens at the school for information on dates and to pick up a permission slip.

“Read to Me Storytime” is held at our Willard location on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.  Bring your little ones for stories, crafts, songs, and more.  The theme for Feb. 1 & 2 is “Let’s Look for Shapes and Shadows”, for Feb. 8 & 9 it is “Be My Storytime Valentine”, for Feb. 15 & 16 it is “M is for Movement”, and for Feb. 22 & 23 it is “Jump Frogs, Jump”.

Do you love to write?  Join our “Writers’ Group” on Thurs. Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.  For more information or to sign up, contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.

Bring your computer questions to the Willard Library during “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad”.  Learn at your own pace and get help right nearby with Jarrad.  Join us every Thursday in February at 6:30 p.m.  Topics include basic computer skills, email, social media, and more.

Come to the Annex on Mon. Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. for “Pinterest Monday”.  Create your own Valentine themed wall hang art.  Sign-up is appreciated.  

Join us for Craft Time with the library at the Willard Enrichment Center on Thurs. Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. to create a “Snowman Fabric Canvas”.  You can join the library at the Enrichment Center on the second Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m.  You can even stick around after for a yummy lunch provided by the Enrichment Center.  

Kids can stop by and make a Valentines’ Day craft on Tues. February 7 at 4:30 p.m. in the Willard Youth Programming Room.  We have a few choices you can pick from to create your own craft with a heart.  

On Tues. Feb. 14, we will have a Valentines’ Day Scavenger Hunt at any time throughout the day.  Look for hidden numbered hearts and decipher the message for a special treat.

Join us in the Willard Library Community Room on Tues. Feb. 21 at 4:30 p.m. to connect and create with dominos.

Hey Kids!  Join Miss Char to learn how to weave your own potholder using a loom and “loops” on Tues. Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m.  This project is recommended for kids ages 6-12.

Tweens and Teens get together with Mrs. Rogers in the Teen Room for fun activities, crafts, and more.  For the week of Feb. 6, come to create a Robotic Hand, for the week of Feb. 13, come play games with us, for the week of Feb. 20, create a Wireman that will dance, and for the week of Feb. 27, take part in some Pringles Chip Science Fun.

Do you have a new reader in your family or someone who needs practice?  Do you struggle to find books that your kids want to read?  Our Greenwich Library will be hosting a monthly event beginning in February that will try to connect kids with books and emphasize that reading is fun and not a chore!  We will have read-alouds, literacy games, and other book-themed fun on two Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  The first date is February 15.  

Join Chris at 11 a.m. on Fridays at Greenwich for stories, crafts, and more made just for your little one.  The dates in February are 10, 17, and 24.

The Greenwich Library Homeschool Group will be meeting again on February 2 at 11 a.m.  All ages are welcome for STEAM-powered learning and fun. While all are welcome, the activities are geared to ages 6-10.  

Join Chris for Greenwich’s “Mystery and Thriller Book Club”.  On Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. the group will discuss “Buried in a Good Book” by Tamara Berry.

Pinterest Monday at Greenwich will take place on Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m.  Come and create a Valentine themed wall art that can also be used as a great door decoration.  Sign-up is appreciated.  

All ages can stop by the Greenwich Library and pick up a Take and Make!  Each week will feature a new craft or activity that you can do at home. Take and Makes are also available at our North Fairfield Library.  

 Adult “Grab and Go Kits” can also be picked up at our North Fairfield location.  Be sure to check in with Carolyn for a monthly craft.

“Sit and Stitch” meets at the North Fairfield Library on Monday, Feb.6, 13, and 27 at 10 a.m.  Bring a project and join other crafty folks for conversation while crafting.  Exchange patterns and ideas.  Maybe even get help on something difficult.

Storytime at North Fairfield will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m.  Bring your little ones for stories, music, and fun, fun, fun with Miss Carolyn.

Find your perfect match at our Wakeman location.  The month of February is “Blind Date with a Book” for all ages.  What will be your new favorite book?  It’s a mystery!!  We have hidden the covers of our “blind date” books.  Using the “clues” take a chance on a mysterious new read and be entered in a prize drawing.   

Visit the Wakeman circulation desk and pick up a copy of February’s chosen cookbook.  Pick out a recipe and cook something delicious to share.  The Cookbook Club meets on Monday, February 6 at 6 p.m. and will use the “Slow Cooker Cookbook” by Taste of Home.

“Who picked this Book?” Wakeman’s  book discussion group will meet Monday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m.  They will be sharing thoughts on “Moby Dick” by Herman Melville.

The “Kids’ Cookbook Club” especially for Wakeman’s Homeschoolers will be sharing recipes from “The Pioneer Woman Cooks Super Easy” by Ree Drummond.  They will get together on February 7 at noon.

Storytime at Wakeman will be held at 10:30 a.m. on February 3, 10, 17, and 24.

Make sure to visit the Storybook Trail in Wakeman along the sidewalk by the library.  The kids’ book for February is “Love is my Favorite Thing”.

“Pop in and Play” with the little ones at Wakeman Library.  There are toys and activities every Wednesday from 10:30 to noon.  Dates for February are Feb. 1, 8, 15, and 22.

Drop in at Wakeman anytime between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. for “Thursdays After School”.  There are different crafts and activities every week.

The adult craft workshop at Wakeman is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.  Join us for a Valentine themed wall art.  Sign-up is appreciated.
