Start the New Year off right by making sure you include the various Huron County Community Library activities in your plans for the month of January.
Our Willard Memorial Library location invites you to “Relax and enjoy” with us. Join us on Tuesday, January 21 from 5-7 p.m. in the community room. Stop by and unwind from the busy holidays and enjoy a night of coloring, light music, and hot chocolate.
“Trivia Night” is back!! Come to the Willard Community Room on Thursday, January 23 from 5-7 p.m. Bring a team or find a friend and relax and have some fun with trivia. There will be prizes for the top team.
“Pinterest Monday” will be held at our Willard location on Monday, January 13 at 6 p.m. Come to the annex and learn how to make twisted wire and bead bird nests or peapods. Sign up is required.
Craft Time with the library is scheduled for Thursday, January 9 at 10 a.m. at the Willard Enrichment Center. Come and make your own Ohio sign. These signs are popular and fun and easy to make.
“Crochet Corner” will be held on Fridays, January 10 & 24 at 11 a.m. in the Willard Memorial Library Community Room. Bring your projects to work on with others. Terry will be available to answer questions and work on projects with you.
Join us once a month at the Willard Library community room for “Dulcimer Wednesdays”. Beginner and experienced players are welcome on Wednesday, January 15 at 11 a.m. Sign up is appreciated as space is limited.
Get moving with the library at the Willard Enrichment Center for free “Line Dancing Workshops”. Join the “Rockin Mammas” on Thursday, January 16 at 6 p.m. for this fun new way to exercise. All ages are welcome. Registration is encouraged.
If you love to write or want to start writing, join Willard’s “Writers’ Group” on Thursday January 16 at 5 p.m. in the conference room. For more information or to sign up, contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.
Come to the Willard Memorial Library computer lab every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and take advantage of “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad”. Bring your computer questions and get help from Jarrad.
“Monday Reads” will get together on Monday, January 13 at 10 a.m. to share their thoughts on the book, “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhorn.
“Read to Me Storytime” for your little one is held at the Willard Library on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Join Miss Mitzi for stories, crafts, songs, and more. The theme for Storytime on January 8 & 9 is “Snowmen and Winter Friends”, on January 15 & 16 it’s “All About Penguins”, on January 22 & 23 it’s “A Little Monkey Business”, and on January 29 & 30 it’s “Me and My Shadow”.
Willard Youth Programs are suggested for grades K-5. On Tuesday, January 7 at 4:30 p.m. kids should come to the Willard Annex to make a winter scene inside a terrarium.
On Tuesday, January 21 at 4:30 p.m. kids are invited to join us in the Willard Community Room and use recycled materials to make a snowman.
Kids ages 6-11 are invited to join us on Thursday, January 30 at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the new “Dogman” movie. We’ll be doing all things Dogman!!
Brick Bunch will meet on Tuesday, January 14, at 4:30 p.m.
Hey Kids! Drop in anytime from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays at our Wakeman Library location for fun activities, crafts, and more. Each week features something new. “Thursday After School” will be held on January 23 & 30.
Join Cathy at Wakeman on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. for stories, activities, and more. Bring the little ones on Friday, January 24 and 31.
Wakeman’s “Look What I Cooked –Kids’ Cookbook Club” will get together on Tuesday, January 7 at 12 p.m. Homeschool families and kids will be using “Fix it and Forget it New Cookbook” by Phyllis Pellman Good.
Little ones can have fun on Wednesday mornings at our Wakeman location during “Pop-in and Play”.
Plenty of toys and fun activities will be available on January 22 and 29.
Valuable education and resources for all adults will begin in January at our Wakeman Library. Join the Laurels of New London for a morning of fun and learning on Tuesday, January 28 at 10:30 a.m.
“Food for Thought Cookbook Club” will get together on Monday, January 6 at 6 p.m. Drop by the circulation desk at Wakeman to get “Eat What You Love Quick and Easy” by Marlene Koch and pick out a recipe to make and share.
“Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s Book Club will be held on Monday, Jan 13 at 5:30 p.m. They will share thoughts on the book “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride.
“Pinterest” Monday at Wakeman is scheduled for Monday, January 27 at 5:30 p.m. Come and learn how to make a twisted wire pendant. Sign up is required.
Join Chris for songs, crafts, games, and more at “Storytime” on Fridays at our Greenwich Library. Kids of all ages are welcome on Fridays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 11 a.m.
“Pop-in and Play” will be held on Tuesdays, January 14 & 28 at 1 p.m. at the Greenwich Library. We’ll open up our cupboards for some fun new activities.
Every Wednesday afternoon, Greenwich will have a special activity between 3-5 p.m. Come for an afternoon of fun. On January 8, have fun building with our large collection of Legos; on January 22, come Stem with Becky, on January 15, make a winter sensory toy, and on January 29 and Friday, January 21 all ages are welcome to take part in a Family Craft.

On Tuesday, January 7 at 11 a.m. the Laurels of New London will have the “Senior Hour” at the North Fairfield Library. Come enjoy free fun and learning. Bingo with prizes and discussions that relate to you will take place. Learn ways to reduce stress, increase resilience and wellness.
Join local resident Sarah Cherry at the North Fairfield Library on Wednesday, January 29 at 5:30 p.m. She will be teaching how to create savory soup dishes. This library event will be held at the North Fairfield Methodist Church.
“Pinterest Craft Day” at our North Fairfield location will take place on Friday, January 3 at 1 p.m. Sign-up is required to come and create Ohio string art.
“Sit N’ Stitch” meets on Mondays at 10 a.m. at the North Fairfield Library. Bring a project to work on and meet other like-minded people. All handicrafts are welcome.
All HCCL locations will be closed January 1 and 20.
