     As the month of November heads into the beginning of the holiday season, be sure to take advantage of the various programs and activities the Huron County Community Library has available for you.

     Dinovember will be happening at our Willard Memorial Library location throughout the month of November.  Watch our Facebook page for all the library dinosaur adventures and stop in for dinosaur programs, activity sheets, color pages, a scavenger hunt, and much more.  When kids come to a dinosaur program this month they will be entered into a drawing for a “dinomite” dinosaur prize package.  The drawing will be held on December 1 and you do not need to be present to win.

     On Tues. Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. Dinovember will kick off with giving away Dinosaur COSI Learning Lunchboxes!  Come see Miss Char and her dinosaur sidekick at the Annex, take a picture with a dinosaur and pick up you COSI Learning Lunchbox.  While you are there, be sure to pick up your supplies to create your “Dinorama”.  

     On Tues. Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m. kids will explore fossils and create them, too!

     Do Parent/Teacher Conferences leave your kids feeling bored?  Come to the library for activity sheets, coloring pages and board games on Nov. 9 & 10.  

     Join us on Tues. Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room for an open Dino LEGO build.  Try to build a dinosaur while watching a film on how amber is formed.  Afterwards you will be creating your own amber stones to take home.

     In honor of National Princess Day and continuing our Dinovember celebration, come to our Annex on Nov. 17 at 4:30 p.m. to paint a castle or dinosaur bank.  There will be a few fun princess crafts, too.

     On Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m. kids can come to the Annex and create dinosaur art using paint and paper.

     Kids are invited to come and create erupting slime and excavate dinosaur eggs.  This activity will be held in the Annex on Nov. 29 at 4:30 p.m.  

     Bring your little ones on Wed. mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thurs. Evenings at 6:30 p.m. for “Read to Me Storytime”.  Nov. 2&3 the theme is “Aw Nuts!  Squirrels!”; on Nov. 9&10 “Roar! It’s Dinovember!”; on Nov. 16&17 “Turkeys are Gobbling”; and Nov. 30 &Dec. 1 “Snuggle up-It’s Time for a Blanket”.

     Teen and Tweens be sure to join Mrs. Rogers for Teen Time, Mondays at 4 p.m.: on Nov. 7 “Explore Dot Art”, on Nov. 14 “Make your Own Book Safe”, on Nov. 21 “Celebrate Thanksgiving”, and Nov. 28 “Make Newton’s Cradle”.

     Grades 6-8 be sure to contact Mrs. Rogers or Mrs. Stevens for information about Manga Club and to pick up a permission slip.

     We have two adult workshops in November.  Both workshops require sign-up to take part in.  On Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. come to the Annex and create a fun holiday decal plate and on Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. create a festive, winter themed centerpiece light using a jar and some “snow”.  

     Karen from Mulberry Creek Herb Farm will be here for a free workshop on creating spice blends like immunity tea, chili mix, and more.  Sign-up is also required for this class on Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room.

     If you want to start writing, join our “Writers Group”.  Contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org for more information or to sign up to attend.  The group is meeting on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room.  

     “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” will continue covering Google Docs on Thursdays in November at 6:30 p.m.  Sign-up is required.  Please contact Jarrad at IT@huroncolib.org to reserve your spot.  Lesson 5 on Nov. 3 will cover “Lists”; Nov. 10 Lesson 6, “Inserting Tables and Images”, and Nov. 17 Lesson 7, “Setting up a Document”.

     “Monday Reads” book discussion, will meet in the Community Room at Willard on Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. to share thoughts on “The Mystery of Mrs. Christie” by Marie Benedict.

     “Turn the Page Book Discussion” will meet on Thurs. Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. to talk about “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict.

     Our Wakeman library is offering a “Pop-In and Play” every Wednesday morning in November.  Bring your kids for toys and fun activities from 10:30 a.m. till noon on 

Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.  

     Kids are invited Thursdays after school on Nov. 3, 10, and 17 between 3:30 and 5 p.m. for various fun activities.

     “Who’s Cooking Today?” is a kid’s cookbook club especially for homeschoolers.  It meets on the first Tuesday of each month at noon.  On Nov. 1, the featured cookbook is “Six Ingredients” by Six Sister’s Stuff.  Visit the Wakeman circulation desk for a copy of this cookbook and make something delicious for lunch.

     On Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. the “Wakeman Cookbook Club” (for adults) will meet and share recipes from “America’s Test Kitchen One Hour of Comfort”.

     Beginner Line Dancing continues at 4 p.m. on Nov. 3 and 17 at the Wakeman Masonic Hall across the street from the library.

     Adult Craft Workshops are back at our Wakeman Library.  Join us once a month for fun activities and projects.  On Monday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m. come and create a Decal Holiday Plate.  

     “Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s book club, will meet Mon. Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Nothing to See Here” by Kevin Wilson.

     Are you a homeschool family?  Join us once a month at our Greenwich library for special experiments and learning activities for different school subjects.  Thursday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. will feature “Thanksgiving Experiments”.

     Kids stop by Nov. 7, 14, 21, and 28 at our Greenwich location and pick up a “Take and Make”.  Each of the Mondays will have a new craft or activity you can do at home.

     Join Jenny at Greenwich for evening Storytime at 5:30 p.m. on Wed. Nov. 9 and 16 and at 11 a.m. Fri. Nov. 4 and 18.

     Teens, Greenwich Library also has a “Take and Make” for you.  Stop by Nov. 7 and 21 to pick up your kit while supplies last.

     Greenwich’s Adult Craft Workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.  Come and make a Decal Holiday Plate.

     The Greenwich Book Club will meet Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. to talk about “The Marriage Lie” by Kimberly Belle.

     Pop-In and Play for our North Fairfield location will take place Nov. 15 at 3:30 p.m.  Join Miss Carolyn for an afternoon of games and fun. 

     Also, join Miss Carolyn on Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. for Stortime.  There will be plenty of stories, music, and fun, fun, fun.

     “Sit and Stitch” gets together at North Fairfield on Nov. 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 10 a.m.  Bring a project to work on and meet other like-minded people.

    North Fairfield’s “Inspirational Book Club” has chosen “Diamond in the Rough” by Jen Turano as the suggested November read.   

     “It’s All About Soup” on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.  “The Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” will share recipes from “Taste of Home: Soup” and “Easy Soups From Scratch with Quick Breads to Match”.

     Mark your calendars for “Willard’s Parade of Lights” which will be held on Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.  Stop by the Willard Library Annex for a “Free” cup of soup.  Then on Nov. 26 from 9-noon and 1-3 p.m. have “Pet and Family Pictures with Santa” done also at the Library Annex.
