    We are finally welcoming April and the Huron County Community Library has just three more programs leading up to the Solar Eclipse for you to come and get a pair of Solar Eclipse Glasses.  Our Willard Memorial Library location will be having a program in the Community Room on Tuesday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m.  Come and decorate a paper plate Eclipse viewer with us and receive one pair of eclipse glasses while supplies last.  Our Wakeman location will have two programs.  Drop-in between 3:30 and 6 p.m. on April 4 and create an “Eclipse Craft” and on April 5 at 10:30 a.m., come to a “Preschool Family Storytime” and make an eclipse craft.  Receive on pair of solar eclipse glasses at these two events.  And finally, at our North Fairfield location there will be a “Eclipse T-shirt” program on April 1 at 3:30 p.m.  Sign- up is required for this event so call the North Fairfield Library to reserve you spot and then receive a pair of solar glasses at the program.  Remember you must attend ONE of these programs to get the opportunity to get a pair of Solar Eclipse glasses as supplies are low.

  • Bring your little ones to our Willard location on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.  The theme for April 3 and 4 is “What’s in a pond”, on April 10 and 11 “Up in the Air”, on April 17 and 18 “Taking Care of our Earth”, and April 24 and 25 “National Library Week! Let’s Read”.

     
  • On Tuesday, April 8 through Saturday, April 13 “ALL DAY” come to our Willard Youth Services Department for some free fun activities to celebrate National Library Week.

     
  • The Willard Youth Department also invites you to join us in the Community Room on Tuesday, April 9 at 4:30 p.m. to take part in “Brick Bunch” our monthly LEGO building challenge.

     
  • Our Willard location Teen Time takes place on Thursdays at 4 p.m.  Tweens and Teens (grades 6 and up), join Mrs. Rogers in the Teen Room for fun activities, crafts, and more.  Sign-up is required on April 4 for “Metal Stamping Time”, sign-up is also required on April 11 for ‘Paint Pouring” (in the annex), on April 18 come create your own “rain chain”, and sign-up is required on April 25 for “Pyrography” (wood burning).

     
  • “Pinterest Monday” our Adult Workshop will be held on Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Annex.  Come create a personalized wall hanging using Dollar Tree Charger Plates.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Celebrate Spring with us at Willard on Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m. in the annex and learn about the importance of bees.  We’ll be creating a beehive shaped wreath and discuss the nature of bees, see how they affect our community, and a little on how to create bee gardens.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. and create a Spring wall hanging or sign.  This program is for ages 18 and up.  Stick around after for a yummy lunch provided by the Enrichment Center.

     
  • Join us for a brand new series on Crocheting at our Willard location.  No experience is necessary but sign-up is required.  Get-together with Terry in the Willard community room on Fridays, April 12 and 26 at 11 a.m. for “Crochet 101”.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Dulcimer 101 Workshops are scheduled in the Willard Library community room on Wednesdays, April 10 and 24 at 11 a.m.  Learn on our dulcimers or come with yours and sharpen your skills.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Get moving with the library at the Willard Enrichment Center.  Join “The Rockin’ Mommas” for a fun new way to exercise.  This free Line Dancing Workshop will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 6 p.m.

     
  • If you love to write and would like to start but haven’t found the time, join the Willard Memorial Library location’s “Writers’ Group”.  Contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.  The next group get together will be Thursday, April 18 at 5 p.m.

     
  • Every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. is “Tech Thursday”.  Just drop in at our Willard computer lab and Jarrad will be here to answer questions, review topics, and more.  Topics include basic computer skills, email, social media, and more. 

     
  • “Monday Reads” book discussion will meet in the Willard community room on Monday, April 15 at 10 a.m. to share thoughts on “Passionate Mothers, Powerful Sons” by Charlotte Gray.

     
  • “Turn the Page Book Discussion”, Willard’s evening book discussion will be meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m.  They will be discussing the book “The First Ladies” by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray.

     
  •  All adults are invited to join us in the Willard annex for our monthly cookbook club.  “Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” will meet on Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m. to eat at discuss “The Amish Community Cookbook”.

     
  •  Drop-in at our Wakeman Library location on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for crafts and fun activities.  Each week features something new.  Join us on April 4, 11, 18, and 25.

     
  • Storytime at Wakeman takes place on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m.  Join us on April 5,12,19 ,and 26.

     
  • Join Cathy on Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, and 24 for Pop-in and play.  Come meet other kiddos or caregivers and play in the Wakeman Library. 

     
  • Pinterest Monday at our Wakeman location will take place on April 29 at 5:30 p.m.  Come create Chalkboard Paint Décor by making a personalized wall hanging with a Dollar Tree Charger Plate.   Sign-up is required. 

     
  • “Who Picked This Book? Wakeman Book Club” will meet on Monday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m.  The book selected will be “The Librarian of Burned Books” by Brianna Labuckes.

     
  • Join Chris for stories, games crafts, and more at Greenwich’s Storytime on Fridays, April 12, 19, and 26 at 11 a.m.

     
  • Thursday, April 11 at 11 a.m. Greenwich’s Homeschool Group will meet and have a “Steam Day”.

     
  • Family Craft Night at our Greenwich location will be held April 22, 23 and 26.  Be sure to stop in anytime between 3-5 p.m.

     
  • Sign-up is required for “Felting Fun”.  Ages 8- Adult are invited to join us at the Greenwich Library on Wednesdays between 5:30 and 7p.m.  On April 24 we will create needle felt shapes.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Our Greenwich location will have Pinterest Monday on April 1 at 5:30 p.m.  Come create a personalized wall hanging using Dollar Tree Charger Plates.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • The North Fairfield Library “Chapter Book Read Aloud” will be held on April 16 and 30 at 3:30 p.m.  Kids 6-12 come join us for your very own story time with a  brand new chapter book read aloud. 

     
  • Young authors ages 6-11 come to the North Fairfield Library on Tuesday, April 23 at 3:30 to create your own books.

     
  • Drop-in Knit or Crochet is held at our North Fairfield location on Mondays from 2:30 -3:30 p.m. from April 15 through May 20.

     
  • Come try an ancient craft from around the world.  Ages 8 and up are invited to create a small item with 3D Wet Felting.   Join us on Monday, April 22 from 4-5:30 p.m.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Join us at the North Fairfield Library on Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m. for Pinterest Craft Day.  We’ll be learning how to do heat transfers on fabric using a Cricut.  Come make a garden flag.

     
  • Sit & Stitch Mondays are held at our North Fairfield Library on Mondays at 10 a.m.  Adult stitchers and crafters are invited to bring their personal projects and chat with fellow crafters.  Join us April 1, 8, 15, and 29.

     
  • IT’S COMING AND WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!!  Mark your calendars!  “Mind, Body, and Sole plus Summer Reading will be held June 3 thru July 13 at all of our Huron County Community Library locations.
