Press Release August 2020

Submitted by jawwiller on

It is hard to believe we are looking toward fall and the last quarter of 2020.  The library has learned to be agile this year.  This year, more than ever before, the library has learned that we do not know what a new day will bring.  Weekly we watch for county alert levels and degree of risk by zip code for the novel coronavirus, which dictates the phase of service we offer to the public.

We are happy to report that the library has been able to establish a way to make materials, computers, and wifi access available to the communities we serve, and home delivery has resumed.

For the foreseeable future this is how you can borrow items from the library:

In accordance with the ODH order, everyone over 10 years old must wear a mask if you are visiting the library.  If you are ill or feeling sick we ask that you visit another time.

  1. Lobby Service:  Call into the library with specific titles, authors, or genres you would like.  The staff will pull the items from our shelves, check them out on your library card, and have them waiting for you in a bag with your name on it.

Depending on how busy the library is we may need up to one business day to process your request.  Items can be brought to your vehicle if you are unable to enter the building.

  1. Limited browsing:  Patrons may enter the library for up to one hour at a time to browse the collection and make their own choices for check out, use the computers, or speak with our staff about your library needs.  Appointments may be made for Reference or Genealogy research.

Each library has a limited capacity of people who are allowed to be in the building at the same time.  All chairs, toys, and many tables have been placed in storage.  If you handle items that you are not checking out, please place them on the cart or table provided so we can quarantine the items before returning them to the shelves.

  1. Homebound Outreach:  Unfortunately, the library is not extending this service to new patrons, at this time.  Existing patrons receiving Outreach Services at their home (not a facility) can call the library to arrange drop off and pick up of library materials.

All items are quarantined for 5 days before being returned to the shelves.  Due dates are adjusted when returned items are checked in to avoid charging fines for materials returned on time.
