    Let’s get ready for the Solar Eclipse! 

  • On Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. at our Willard Library location, Space Ambassador, Gene Zajac, will be here to help us get ready with fun information.  We will also be building viewers at the program, too.  There will be a limited number of glasses available that night to pass out to program participants.  Join us to learn and to get your free glasses.

     
  • Adults get creative at our Willard library location!  On Monday, March 11 at 6 p.m. create your own Van Gogh “Starry Night” with oil pastels.  We will learn about the upcoming Eclipse and a little about Van Gogh himself.   Sign-up is required.

     
  • On Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Library Annex, come for a free watercolor paint workshop.  Everyone will have their own creation to take home.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Join us on March 8 at 11 a.m. in the Willard Community Room for a brand new series on crocheting!  No experience is needed.  We will start at the beginning and eventually work on a project together.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Ages 18 and up are invited to come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, March 14 at 10 a.m. We will be creating a lavender painting using q-tips and learning about different non-traditional items that can be used to paint.  You can even stick around after for a yummy lunch that is provided by the Enrichment Center.

     
  • Get moving with the library by attending our free Line Dancing Workshops.  Join “The Rockin’ Mommas” at the Willard Enrichment Center for a fun way to exercise.  Registration is encouraged so call or stop by the library to reserve your spot.  The next class will be held March 21 at 6 p.m.

  • Our monthly “Dulcimer 101 Workshop” will be held in the Willard Library Community Room on Wednesdays March 13 and 27 at 11 a.m.  Sign-up is required as classes are limited.  Learn from our Dulcimers or come and sharpen your skills.

     
  • “Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” are held in the Willard Computer Lab every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.  Just drop in with your questions. 

     
  • “Monday Reads” will meet in the Willard community room on Monday, March 11 at 10 a.m.  The book being discussed is “Home for Erring and Outcast Girls” by Julie Kibler.

     
  • “Turn the Page Book Discussion” is Willard’s evening book discussion.  Come and share your thoughts on Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. in the library community room.  The book selected for March is “Miracle Creek” by Angie Kim.

     
  • All adults are invited to join us in the Willard annex for our monthly cookbook club.  Come join our lively discussions and enjoy a bite to eat.  On Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. join us to share a quick recipe and enjoy a discussion on the cookbook, “Just in Time: All New 30 Minute Meals”.

     
  • Join Mrs. Rogers in the Teen Room at our Willard location for fun activities, crafts, and more.  On Thursday, March 7 at 4 p.m. in the annex, Teens and Tweens can take part in “Pour Paint Art”.  Come create your own pour paint canvas. 

     
  • Thursday, March 14 at 4 p.m. is “Game Time” for Teens and Tweens and Thursday, March 21 at 4 p.m., come and find out what an agamograph is.

     
  • Teens and Tweens are invited on Thursday, March 28 at 4 p.m. to come and create their own optical illusion.

     
  • Bring your little one to “Willard Storytime” on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.  On March 6 & 7 the theme is “Birds of a Feather”,on March 13 & 14 it is “Wee Little Irish Tale”, on March 20 & 21 it is “Wake Up, It Is Spring!”, and March 27 & 28 it is “A Hippity, Hoppity Storytime”.

     
  • The Youth Department at our Willard Memorial Library location has plenty of activities planned for our youth in grades K-5.  On Thursday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. join us in the Youth Programming Room for “Painting with your Peeps”.  Paint with the candy to create fun paintings that can be displayed for spring.

     
  • Kids, join us in the Willard community Room on Tuesday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m. to play some unique games where luck is more important than skill.

     
  • Come to the Willard annex, kids, on Tuesday, March 19 at 4:30 p.m. to create your own Squishmallow art on a Squishmallow canvas.  (while supplies last)

     
  • The monthly LEGO building challenge is scheduled in the Willard Library Community Room on Tuesday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m.  Join us on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. for “Easter Bingo”. Come and try to win Easter eggs filled with surprises.

     
  • “Pop-in and Play” on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon.  Join Cathy, other kids, and caregivers for free play at the library on March 6, 13, 20, and 27.

     
  • Kids drop in anytime from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at our Wakeman Library location for “Thursday After School”.  Each week will feature something new.

     
  • Storytime at the Wakeman Library is held every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m.  Be sure to bring the little ones on March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.

     
  • Our adults are invited to our Wakeman location for “Pinterest Monday” on March 25 at 5:30 p.m.  Come and create your own Van Gogh “Starry Night” with oil pastels.  Learn about the upcoming Eclipse and  about Van Gogh himself.  Sign-Up is required.

     
  • Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s Book Club will meet on March 18 at 5:30 p.m. to share their thoughts on “The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules” by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg.

     
  • Wakeman Cookbook Club will get together on Monday, March 4 at 6 p.m.  The cookbook being used is “Smitten Kitchen Keepers” by Deb Perelman.  Visit the Wakeman circulation desk for a copy of the cookbook, pick out a recipe, and cook something delicious to share.

     
  • Storytime at our Greenwich location is held on Fridays at 11 a.m.  Bring your little ones on March 1, 15, 22, and 29.

     
  • The Greenwich Library Homeschool Group will meet on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m.  The topic for this month is “Native Americans”. 

     
  • Architect Day at our Greenwich location is Wednesday, March 13.  Drop-in between 3:30 and 6 p.m. to build your own creations.

     
  • Come and take part in Galaxy Creations at the Greenwich Library.  This event is held on  Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m.  The theme for March 6 is “Galaxy Goop Day”.  March 20 is “Solar Oven and Snacks Day” and March 27 is “Eclipse T-Shirts Day”.  The last two require sign-up to attend.

     
  • Arrowheads and Artifacts will be the topic at Greenwich on Monday, March 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  Learn about and see local Native American artifacts and tools with Gary Risner.

     
  • Come to our Greenwich location on Wednesday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. for Cricut 101.  Join us for a look at the Cricut from getting started, to finishing off the evening with a free project.  We’ll be making glass iced coffee cups with decals.

     
  • Pinterest Monday at the Greenwich Library is March 4 at 5:30 p.m.  Come and create your own “Starry Night” with oil pastels.  We will learn about the Eclipse and about Van Gogh himself. 

     
  • Family Craft Night at Greenwich will be March 25, 26, and 28.  Drop in any time after 3 p.m.

     
  • Fiber Arts 101 for ages is held at the North Fairfield Library.  Drop-in any time on March 11 and 25 between 3:30 and 6 p.m. for knitting, felting, crocheting, spinning, and weaving.

*Solar Glasses are available when you attend featured eclipse programs.  One pair of glasses are available per person.  Please check with your local Huron County Community Library location for the scheduled solar events that will offer these solar glasses. *
