The Huron County Community Library is doing its best to make sure our patrons still have access to the various programs, workshops, and events the Library has always offered.  Though we are unable to offer in-person programming, patrons can experience a large variety of programs live through Facebook or GoToMeetings.  Facebook Live programs are also available to watch after the program date.  This type of programming gives everyone a chance to experience the happenings at all four of our library locations and not just only your local library.

Teens, join Miss Jo and Mrs. Rogers for interactive Manga Talks.  This year our selection is “One Piece”.  Copies are available at the library.  Join us live on Facebook and offer your comments, opinions, and ask questions, too.  Let’s talk Vol. 4-6 of “One Piece” by Eiichiro Oda on Friday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m.

Take part in Teen Time virtual workshops with Miss Jo on our Facebook page or YouTube.  On Monday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. discover a unique way to decorate pumpkins for Halloween.

Willard Memorial Library location book discussions are held through “GoToMeeting”.   Contact the Library or visit our Facebook Events for the link to join in.  “Monday Reads” meets at 10 a.m. on the second Monday of the month.  Pick up your copy now of our next read for Oct. 19.  The book to be discussed is “Educated” by Tara Westover.

“Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” meets the last Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.  Join the group discussion Sept. 30 for “Pillsbury Annual Recipes: including Pillsbury Bake-off Contest winners.”

Too busy for Book Discussion?  Check out our No Strings Attached Book Club at our Greenwich location.  Each month a new book will be featured on display.  No meetings to attend, just a new book in hand.  For September the book selection is “The Unhoneymooners” by Christina Lauren.

Looking for a new title or author?  Check out the “Inspirational Book of the Month at our North Fairfield location.  For September the choice is “On a Summer Tide” by Suzanne Woods Fisher.

Reading is so important for our small children.  Read to me Story Time is an early literacy program that features music, stories, crafts, and more.  Join Miss Mitzy every Wednesday

at 10:30 a.m.  on Facebook Live.  Sept. 16 the theme is “Kindness”, Sept. 23 is “Hiking”, and Sept. 30 is “Apples”.  Featured kits for Story Time are available at the library while supplies last.

Our Wakeman librarian, Miss Cathy, invites kids to join her on Facebook Live Friday, September 18 at 11 a.m.  Her theme will be “Colors, Colors Everywhere.”  Miss Cathy tells us that reading to your child helps them build their vocabulary, helps recognize patterns, and will help you bond with your children.

Miss Jenny at our Greenwich location will present Story Time Live on Facebook Friday, Sept.25 at 11 a.m.  Celebrate Fall!  Kids will learn about leaves and make salt dough leaf imprints.

On Tues. Sept.22 at 4:30 p.m. Miss Charlotte will give a drawing lesson online.  She will show you how to draw David with some simple techniques.  “No, David” by David Shannon will be used with the permission from Scholastic Publishing.

Visit Storybook Walk at Dalton Park Preserve, 5171 State Route 303 in Wakeman throughout the month of September.  It will be available during the regular park hours.  The September title is “Every Autumn Comes the Bear” by Jim Arnosky.  This special walk is presented in cooperation by Dalton Park Preserve and the Huron County Community Library.

Playing is learning with S.T.R.E.A.M. on face book live.  Miss Cathy will present two special activities on Facebook Live.  Saturday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. you will learn how to create your own Marble Mazes using cardboard, paper, and glue.  On Thurs. Sept. 24 at 4:30 p.m. take part in “Strawbee’s Creations”.  Kits will be available while supplies last.

Our Greenwich location has a really fun activity planned for September on Facebook Live.  Thursday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. kids can take part in a great Stem activity.  “Do-It-Yourself Bubble Mania”!  Learn about different types of bubble solutions and experiment with which ones work best.

Adults, don’t feel left out.  You can catch free craft workshops on our Facebook page.  Stop by one of our locations in Willard, North Fairfield, Wakeman, or Greenwich and pick up your “Grab and Go” craft kits.  On Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. learn how to create your own “Fairy Jar” using simple supplies.

Learn how to make a Pineapple Upside Down Cake in a Crockpot on Monday, September 28 at 6 p.m. with Miss Judy.  This short and simple video will show the recipe from “Fix it and Forget It”: Slow Cooker Crowd Pleasers for the American  Summer”.  It’s the perfect dessert for this Fall season and the upcoming holidays.
