     How time flies!!  With the coming of September, all locations of the Huron County Community Library would like you to join us at each of our locations for our system-wide celebration of “100 Years of Library Service”.  The open house will be held on Monday, September 27 from noon to 6 p.m. with music, refreshments, and various pictures.  Come see how your library has grown and share a memory with staff and go home with a little gift.

     Join Miss Mitzi every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook or in-person for Storytime.  In-person Storytime will be an outdoor Storytime with Miss Mitzi in Willard on the Trinity Lutheran Church yard (weather permitting).  On Sept.1 the theme will be: “Back to School”; on Sept. 8 the theme will be: “The Farmer Says”; on Sept. 15, “Apples Grow on Trees”; on Sept. 22, “Autumn Colors are Here”; on Sept. 29, “S is for Scarecrow”.

     Miss Carolyn at our North Fairfield location will have a special outdoor Storytime on Tuesday, September 14 at 11 a.m. at the Gazebo. 

     Miss Jenny at our Greenwich location will also hold an outdoor Storytime on the Greenwich lawn.  On Sept. 7-10 celebrate the return of Storytime!  Friday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. the theme is “Leap into Science: Lights and Shadows”; on Sept. 17 “Music”; on Sept. 24 “Art”.

     Join Miss Cathy on Storybook Trail at Dalton Park Preserve on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10:30 a.m.  We will enjoy the story and some fun activities after the story.

     Miss Charlotte welcomes you virtually on Facebook during the month of September.  On Wed. Sept. 15 at 6 p.m., “Make your Mark . . . International Dot Day”.  Miss Char will have a special story and an art project.  Kits are available at Willard starting Sept. 13 while supplies last.  “Paint, Bake, and Make!” will take place on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m.  Miss Char will teach you how to create your own unique mug and share a fun story.  Kits are available starting Sept. 20 while supplies last.  Join Miss Char Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. for a look at the graphic novel series “Investigators”.  Grab and Go Kits will be available while supplies last.

     On Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. Teens can join Miss Jo on Facebook to learn how to paint a scenic landscape and on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. make autumn themed calming jars.  These sensory Jars are great for any age.  Then Join Miss Jo for livestream play through Twitch on Friday, Sept. 3 and Friday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.

     We are getting ready for Fall.  Join us Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Willard Annex for a workshop on creating your own apple fabric wall hanging.  Kits are available at Wakeman, North Fairfield, and Greenwich.  

     “Spice Up Your Life Spice Club” is back beginning Wednesday, September 22 at 6 p.m.  Kits are available at all locations.  Miss Judy will teach us how to create a caramel apple pound cake.  

     “Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” will be meeting in the Willard City Park on Wed. Sept. 29 at 6 p.m.  We will be using the book “The Secret Ingredient Cookbook: 125 Family Friendly Recipes with Surprisingly Tasty Twists” by Kelly Senyel.

     “Monday Reads” will get together on Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. to discuss “Ill Will” by Dan Chaon and on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. “Awkward Book Club with Jo” will share their thoughts on “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood.  Join Miss Jo and Mrs. Rogers on Facebook, Friday, September 17 at 3 p.m. for an interactive book talk on their Manga selection: “One Piece”.  

     The “No Strings Attached Book Club” for September at our Green which location is “One More We Saw Stars” by Jayson Greene and the “Inspirational Book Club” at North Fairfield has chosen “Christy” by Catherine Marshall as their book for September.  

     REMEMBER, mark your calendars for Monday, September 27 from noon until 6 p.m.  Come celebrate with us at each of our library locations, “100 Years of Library Service”!
