ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE

When Margot was six years old, her best friend disappeared from her Wakarusa, Indiana, home only to be found dead in a ditch hours later.  No one was ever charged with her murder.  Margot never thought she'd be returning, but she's back in town to take care of her uncle, the man who raised her.  Margot's now an investigative reporter and when a young girl goes missing from the next town, Margot sees a possible connection between her and her friend's case from 20 years ago.  When Margot starts asking questions about her friend's death, she discovers some people may not want the truth to come out.  There seemed to be a fair amount of hype surrounding this book, so I was expecting good things.  It took a while to find them.  I struggled to get through the first half.  It just didn't grab me.  The writing was mediocre, it didn't seem to have much originality and the dialogue felt lame.  But in the second half, the action picked up and there were actually a couple of twists I didn't see coming.  I'd give it a C+.
