Pinky is not your average private investigator. In fact, nothing about Pinky is average, but she seems to have finally found her niche being a PI for longtime family friend, Rik. Rik finally has a case that could launch his little firm into the big time. The local police chief is being accused by three officers of trading sex for promotions. The twist here is that the chief is a woman. A woman that someone wants to have removed from office. Also on Pinky's agenda: figuring out what the hunky guy next door is up to. Having not read Scott Turow for many years, I didn't know Pinky had made a previous appearance and thanks to Turow's deft writing, I didn't feel like I had missed out on something. While Pinky is very unconventional, I found her to be quirky and likeable and the investigation into the allegations was very engaging. A legal thriller that was also a fun read.
