ALL THAT IS MINE I CARRY WITH ME

When 10-year-old Miranda comes home from school one day, she's surprised to find that her mother is not there.  What at first feels like an adventure soon turns into concern and then despair when her mother never returns home.  A missing person investigation becomes a possible homicide, but there's just not enough evidence, despite the lead detective looking hard at Dan, Miranda's father, a slick defense attorney.  Years pass, Miranda and her two brothers try to get on with their lives, with varying success.  And then, finally, their mother's remains are found, again focusing attention on Dan, dividing the family's loyalty.  I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would.  It's a family tragedy/mystery/courtroom drama with a unique slant.  The writing style is a departure from the norm, but the characters are well fleshed-out.  I've seen this coming across the desk a lot lately.  It'll be interesting to see what other readers think.
