BLACK WOLF

Melvina Donleavy has a unique skill.  She never forgets a face.  Never.  That and a father in law enforcement propelled her into a career with the CIA.  Mel has just arrived in Byelorussia on her first undercover mission, where not even her team knows what her mission really is.  Though she tries to stay under the radar, Mel soon comes under the scrutiny of the head of the local KGB when she starts asking questions about an apparent serial killer operating in the area.  And the Soviet Union does not have serial killers.  This was the best thing I've read in a while.  The spy stuff was easy to follow, the characters felt authentic and the pace was just right.  I hated to have to put it down.  And I think this might be the beginning of a new series.
