THE LAST ONE

Caroline, or Caz, as most people call her, boards the luxurious cruise ship RMS Atlantica with her boyfriend, Pete, for a much-needed holiday.  On her first morning aboard, Caz wakes up to discover Pete is not in the bed.  She gets up and realizes he's not in the room or on the balcony.  She ventures into the corridor, up on deck, into restaurants, the lounges, the spa, the bridge and all the public areas she can get to.  Not only is Pete nowhere to be found, she can't find another soul.  She's all alone.  And the ship continues to steam into the vastness of the ocean.  That's the premise.  For the most part, the book is compelling and a fast read.  Most chapters are very short and end with a little cliffhanger, ratcheting up the suspense.  Some of it may be a little far fetched, but that's not always a bad thing.  It is fiction.  Caz's back story is a little mundane, but overall this book should hold your interest..
