ALL THE DARK PLACES

Four couples come together to celebrate Jay's 40th birthday.  It's a pleasant evening, enjoyed by all.  But the next morning, his wife, Molly, finds him dead on the floor in his office, brutally murdered.  Molly is no stranger to living through a nightmarish situation and Jay's death brings back all those feelings and threatens to reveal the secret of who she really is.  When the police discover that Jay's death can be tied to the disappearance of a young woman who hasn't been seen since the last time these friends were together, they are convinced that Jay's killer was someone very close to him.  I just couldn't get excited about this book.  It seemed very mediocre to me.  Nothing was very original, the characters were flat and I didn't feel it pulling at me to come back when I wasn't reading it.
